As international flights ceased due to COVID 19, the airline team became aware of dwindling supplies of essential medicines not readily available in Honiara. 20.01.2022 PR Team were pleased to help Solomon Airlines spread the news about the airline's first repatriation flights with approval of the governments of Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Fiji. The first repatriation flight IE663 arrived in Honiara late this afternoon. About 80 passengers onboard were finally heading home to the Solomon Islands from throughout Australia and New Zealand. Among the Solomon Islands citizens were passengers returning from New Zealand including seasonal workers and connecting passengers from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Canberra. We touched down this morning operating our one-off commercial flight transporting passengers and cargo Honiara to Sydney and Brisb...ane to connect with services to further destinations. Passengers onboard the Airbus A320 aircraft are destined for their home countries in Australia and New Zealand, USA, UK and Europe, Japan and the Philippines. Flight IE4710 departed Honiara Henderson International Airport at 5:40am, arrived in Sydney at 8:40am, departed Sydney at 10am and just landed back in Brisbane. 10.01.2022 ***INTERNATIONAL SCHEDULE UPDATE*** We are pleased to confirm we will be operating a one-off repatriation flight from Brisbane to Honiara on Tuesday 26 May with... Solomon Islands Government approval. All passengers who travel onboard will be subject to mandatory quarantine for a 28 day period at a Government approved facility in Honiara. The flight will comply with all COVID-19 regulations in accordance with Australia and Solomon Islands Government requirements. We will return to Brisbane on 27 May and we are accepting bookings and existing tickets from previous cancelled flights on both these services. Raphael will be swapping his football boots for fins for a short time and undertaking the 3-day open-water scuba diving certification course later this month. Our goal is by the end of 2020 to have 80 young Solomon Islanders qualified and certified as open water scuba divers and we welcome sponsors and youth to come onboard.
