25.01.2022 Hello everyone. So close to the finish. The daylight has beaten me for today. One of my lovely customers made this beaitiful free standing lace angel and gave it to me today. 23.01.2022 Hello everyone. It was megga busy today. I'm setting up an Australian candle wicking piece, but I'll have more to show you tomorrow. We have some new Becci made masks at the shop. Mostly Australian fabrics. They are $13/each. If you would like something different, simply tag Rebecca Browning in the comments. Until tomorrow, happy sewing.
23.01.2022 Hello everyone. Well, the hot weather is certainly here. Too hot to play with wool at the moment. I did have a blackwork project and a huck project lined up to do next, but I can't get the fabrics. Supplies are so slow coming. So, not to be without some hand work to do, I dug this out. Cross stitch by numbers. No skills involved, except neat stitches. I'm really enjoying it. I start from the bottom and the thread colours are different from the background. Until tomorrow, happy sewing.
22.01.2022 Hello everyone. In todays episode...3 patterns traced to fabric and ran up the twin to the charity quilt that I made a couple of weeks ago. Im off to craft tomorrow for my day off. See you on Thursday. Until then, happy sewing

21.01.2022 Hello everyone. Well, we finally have a tarp on the roof. So, we're good now until the repairs are done. Pic is Huck Sweedish weaving embroidery. It's one of the embroideries that are disappearing. This is a beginners pattern that I was teaching yesterday at craft. I only have one row left to do and then I can complete the side seams on this guest towel. Until tomorrow, happy sewing.
21.01.2022 Hello everyone. Sad news from Queensland Quilters. The October quilt show will not be going ahead this year. They are looking forward to 2021. I am still awaiting new for Toowoomba quilt show. We are open tomorrow, Saturday from 9am to 12pm Cheers Gai
20.01.2022 Hello everyone. Hope you are keeping busy. I keep forgetting to take pics of what I'm doing. Today's effort. A little black work. Black work was traditionally worked in black thread, however as the years went on, red was also acceptable, although rare. In the modern age, any colour is fine, unless you are showing. This is worked on 14 count aida in pearl 12 cotton. You can also use stranded cotton. Black cotton in all it's forms is hard to get atm. I will finish this pin cushion tomorrow and start on the scissors case. Until then, happy sewing.
19.01.2022 Hello everyone. Well, here we go again. Rest assured that The Quilters Inn takes the risks of covid seriously, and we have measures in place to help shop safely. Please use the sanitizer provided at this station. This too is cleaned regularly. The eftpos machine is cleaned after each customer. Our hands are sanitised b...efore and between customers. Please observe social distancing. If you are ill in any way, or have been with someone from the infected areas, although we would love to see you, please dont come until this is sorted. The Quilters Inn team value all of our customers. Please stay safe. Cheers Gai New fabric . Real cherries. $19/m
19.01.2022 Hello everyone. I spent ages doing a short blog for you about after work and weekends, but it wont upload. So Ill just do my peas instead. Several years ago I bought these raised beds (9 in total), put them together and ordered "A grade soil". It wasnt. We have tried many things to improve this, with not a lot of success. So I had the bright idea to fill the bed with peas, so that it would make nitrogen in the soil and then "plow in" the foliage, which will improve this bed. So we did three double sided rows, expecting to have just some plant matter to dig in and maybe some peas to eat. Look what happened!! This is really poor soil. Did my first pick yesterday afternoon and I have half a sandwich bag of peas in the freezer already.
19.01.2022 Hello everyone. Progress on the scarf. I have almost completed one revolution of the pattern. It measures 9.5" at present (approx 25cm). At one revolution, I think it will be around 40cm. So a little way to go yet. Until tomorrow, happy sewing.

17.01.2022 Hello everyone. I finished my towel edging yesterday. Just have to sew it down. Started winding bobbins for the next project today. 16.01.2022 Toowoomba Quilters Club inc.Management Committee met this week to discuss issues relating to our 2020 Quilt Exhibition. Reluctantly we have made the decision that the exhibition will not go ahead in September. It was agreed we could not guarantee the safety of our members or visitors. This was a very hard decision to make but we anticipate that our Quilt Exhibition will be bigger and better than ever in 2021. We hope that you, your loved ones and family stay safe.
16.01.2022 Hello everyone. Pretty b usy today and I forgot to take pics of my projects. If you are looking for aussie Christmas prints, we have a great range. Here are some of them. Until tomorrow, happy sewing
16.01.2022 Hello everyone. You may remember that a few weeks ago I made a blackwork pincushion and scissors case, worked in red. We started our class at craft last week and the first pic is the pincushion top in black. What I would like to say, is that a pattern is only a guide, be it patchwork or this type of embroidery. You are only limited by your imagination. The pattern was only for the pincushion and scissors case. This is worked on 14 count aida. So, I grabbed some 14 count edging, using the same design, just adjusted a little (pic 2) this will be a candle wrap. You could also do a towel edging. So think about how you can re use your patterns, instead of spending money on a once only purchase. I have certainly had my $10 worth from this idea. Until tomorrow, happy sewing.

09.01.2022 Hello everyone. If you are looking for Christmas fabric, we the largest selection in S.E. Queensland, with over 200 bolts available. It covers six stands in the hallway section of the shop. Prices range from $17 to $19/m. Hope to see you soon. Until tomorrow, happy sewing.
08.01.2022 Hello everyone. It's been kinda busy lately and I haven't had a chance to take pics. I am working on some huck embroidery. The top pic is worked per the pattern, however, these are old patterns done on huck fabric, which is no longer available. The bottom pic is adjusted to use the monks cloth that is now used. ( much happier with the finish) this is done by splitting the fabric. Difference between the two. Huck fabric had only 2 vertical fabric lines. Monks cloth has 4. It didn't make any difference when we were using two vertical step ups for embroidery, but this pattern calls for one vertical step up, which didn't produce the slanted stitches. Splitting the vertical produced the desired effect. Until tomorrow, happy sewing.
08.01.2022 Hello everyone. It was nice to have the sun today without the wind. My lace is finished and on its ring. Still a little bit to do before its finished. Until tomorrow happy sewing.

I also carry supplies and books for you to take home and have a go. What would you like to see me do this year? Assuming it goes ahead

02.01.2022 Hello everyone. My day off today. We continued the blackwork class at craft this morning. I had quite a bit to do in the garden this afternoon, including emptying and shifting a raised bed. Once again, I had used that horrible soiland it's not being used. So an experiment about to happen there. Speaking of experiments, I started this one about three weeks ago. I purchased a couple of the ice tubs from crazy clark's and I'm doing a permiculture potato experiment. I have eruption!! Woohoo! I'll show you the end product in a few months. Btw, the peas are finished. I harvested 4 kilos all up. Cheers Gai
