25.01.2022 The new Radio jingle recorded by The Rubber Band can be heard at: https://soundcloud.com//cheryl-thompson-alp-radio-jingle-b

24.01.2022 Farewell to Woz (by Tony) It is with regret that we have to advise all friends and fans of The Rubber Band that one of the founding members of the band, Warren Midge or Woz Meacham, has decided to leave the band in order to pursue other activities in his life. Whilst the remaining band members are exceptionally sorry to see Woz leave, we completely understand his decision and of course we wish him the best of luck in all future endeavours. I fondly remember when we were... 15 year old school boys in Barcaldine Wayne asked me to accompany him after school to Warrens house, as Warren wanted to talk to us about getting a band together. We walked into Warrens room and he was sitting on the edge of his bed, playing his brand new maroon Coltone electric guitar (unplugged, as he didnt have an amp at that stage) and he was playing and singing the great Beatles song This Boy. Woz had the goods way back then and if anyone has heard his vocals on the song Alarm Clock Blues on our new CD Australian Sons, they will see that he still has it. In fact, as I was the composer of that song, I seriously doubt if any other singer in the world could have nailed it better than Woz! The Rubber Band will continue on, with Warrens spot being filled in future engagements by Donn Wood, who has played with Tony as a duo called The DTs for the past 8 years or so. Donn knows most of the RB songs and because of his association with Tony will slot in to the band comfortably. Naturally, things will be a little different without Woz, but on the positive side it will also refresh the band a bit. In conclusion, I would like to dedicate to Warren the following verses from a song I wrote some years ago called I Never Did Learn to Dance (this is a somewhat autobiographical song, in which the title alludes to the fact that as a young guy, every dance I ever attended was as a musician, not at a dancer). I put this song on the table for the Australian Sons sessions but it didnt make the cut maybe next time: I was fifteen years of age, when I got my first guitar, and joined a rock and roll band. With my mates Midge, Will and Half, we played so many gigs, as we travelled across this great land. We were sons of Australia, in its freedom we basked, all the laughs, all the loves, applause and beers. But the years rolled by quickly, and with innocence lost, life soon lowered its thin veil of tears. ***************************************** Farewell Wozza old son, we will miss you in the line-up!

23.01.2022 One half of The Rubber Band (centre 2) hard at work checking out possible venues for an Autumn tour of the Central West. Tough work, but someone has to do it!

22.01.2022 Thanks to Steve Meacham for your post. Great stuff mate! I'm proud to have played with him over a long time, and equally proud to be his friend - he is one of nature's truly good guys!

17.01.2022 The Rubber Band song 'A Letter to Mother', featuring the beautiful Vanessa Meacham (daughter of Warren) on lead vocals, has been added to the play list on our web site. Check it out: http://ourbackpages.vpweb.com.au/?prefix=www Here are some pics of the actual recording session. Thirsty work for the world's best drummer!

17.01.2022 OK, the stats are in. The hits on our web site show that we have a huge fan base in each of the following places; 1. The city of Woodbridge, in the state of Virginia, USA 2. The city of Seattle, in Washington State, USA 3. The city of Dublin, capital of Ireland 4. The Philippines, where apparently we are more popular than Justin Bieber and One Direction combined. Quite understandable!!!... So, if there are any promoters out there, just offer us a tour. We come cheap, only 4 mill. each. See more

17.01.2022 The Rubber Band has been in the recording studio today, recording a radio jingle for the ALP candidate for Gregory, Cheryl Thompson, in the Queensland state election to be held on 31/1/2015. The electorate of Gregory includes Barcaldine, the old HQ for The Rubber Band in years past. Cheryl is a very decent, caring and hardworking person, who is exactly the kind of person we all need to represent us in state parliament and we are proud to assist Cheryl in her campaign. Our jin...gle will be heard on radio 4LG and other regional radio stations from 21/1/2015. The Rubber Band was last heard on radio 4LG when DJ Ray Mazerick had our hit single 'Repetition' on high rotation - who remembers that? Who could forget the magnificent drumming on that song, by the world's greatest drummer - Mr Wayne Williams? Not me dude!!! We will post the jingle here shortly, or a link to where you can hear it. Stay tuned ......... See more

16.01.2022 Unfortunately we are not having a charmed run at ABC Radio 612, with Steve Austin "running out of time" on Tuesday and then a technical glitch with the song on Wednesday. As most people probably know, the days are now long gone where actual CD's are played in radio studios. All music is uploaded digitally to computerised systems by production staff and the DJ simply has to click on the appropriate title. We contacted 612 and were assured by the production crew that the CD we supplied was fine; that the problem was just some technical glitch with the uploading. They said they should have that fixed and checked by tomorrow (Thursday). So here's hoping ... Anyway, we still have Thursday and Friday left - so maybe the music gods will finally smile on us. Stay tuned-in to ABC 612.

16.01.2022 Welcome to Cheryl Williams, the sister of the best drummer in The Rubber Band ....... if not the world!!!

16.01.2022 Unfortunately The Rubber Band will not be able to perform in Barcaldine during the Labor Day long weekend this year. We were hoping to get there but due to a lineup change and other logiostical issues it was just not possible. A bit disappointing as it should be a great weekend. However ... there is always next time.

15.01.2022 The Premier of Queensland, Annastacia Palaszczuk, has just visited Barcaldine and our friend and colleague there, Mark Walshie Walsh, has just told us that the Premier personally conveyed to the campaign team for Cheryl Thomson that The Rubber Band jingle (for Cheryl Thomson) was voted the best jingle of the election campaign. Walshie presented the Premier with a copy of The Rubber Band CD Australian Sons. Maybe now our songs will be heard in the upper echelon of power in George Street, Brisbane?

14.01.2022 Even the worlds best drummer should not let his ambitions become confused with his capabilities! Too many Phantom comics in his misspent youth?

14.01.2022 Just letting all our fans and supporters know that our new CD can now be purchased at our web sire, using PayPal. The cost is $20.00 AUD + $5.00AUD postage - a total of $25.00AUD. 14.01.2022 The Rubber Band (Mk.3) Due to foundation member Warren Meacham relocating to Tasmania, we have formed The Rubber Band (Mk.3) in 2019, with the 3 remaining band members being joined by Redcliffe based Australian/American, Ric Caster (vocals/guitar) and Maleny based Sunshine Coast lad Dave Crerar (vocals/guitar). Both of the new guys are very experienced performing musicians who bring a lot of expertise, variety and vitality to the band. For the first time the band has become ...a 5 piece, with 3 lead vocalists. The full line-up, as appearing in the main photo L to R, is: Ian Rix - (Member since 2012) Lead & Harmony Vocals, Bass, Harmonica, Mandolin, Guitar Ric Caster - (Member since 2019) - Lead & Harmony Vocals, Guitars (6 & 12 string) Wayne Williams (Foundation member) - Drums, Percussion Tony Fraser (Foundation member) - Guitars, Slide/Dobro, Ukulele Dave Crerar - (Member since 2019) - Lead & Harmony Vocals, Guitars (too numerous to list) With the new line-up, the repertoire of the band includes a lot more Blues and Roots material than before, but still includes some of the covers that the band has performed over the years, as well as a sprinkling of original songs from our CD. The combined experience of the 5 band members is used in carefully selecting songs which audiences are certain to enjoy. We are all looking forward to the next chapter in the life & times of The Rubber Band

14.01.2022 No, it's NOT Little Stevie Wright, it's Warren 'Woz' Meacham doing a Little Stevie Wright.

09.01.2022 Some exciting news for all fans of The Rubber Band: Radio DJ Steve Austin at 612 ABC Brisbane has made The Rubber Band CD 'Australian Sons' his 'album of the week' on his morning show (8.30 to 11.00 am), which means that he will play a different song from the CD each morning from Mon. 2/3 through to Fri. 6/3. The first song played by Steve today was 'Shearing, 1891'. So ... listen in to Steve's show each morning this week to hear a new song. He usually plays a song from his album of the week just before his show ends at 11.00 am. If you don't have a radio handy you can listen live at the ABC website: http://www.abc.net.au/brisbane/programs/612_morning/

08.01.2022 The Rubber Band would like to wish all of our friends and fans a very happy New Year and a 2015 in which peace, love, fairness, justice and compassion reigns supreme for all. The band is currently working on some exciting new activities for the New Year, including official CD launches - at a major venue on The Sunshine Coast and at a well-known club in Brisbane (details will follow on this page ASAP). Also, we are looking forward to getting back into the recording studio agai...n, as we currently have more than enough new original songs for 2 more albums. We would like to thank all of our supporters who have to date obtained our CD, or listened to our music in concert - and we include all of those from foreign countries who have visited our web site. We have had a lot of fantastic feedback so far, so spread the word and tell all of your friends to "do themselves a favour" by buying the CD. HAPPY NEW YEAR from THE RUBBER BAND!!!! See more

07.01.2022 Just to advise all that Tony (from The Rubber Band) and Donn Wood ( who perform as the duo, 'DT's') will be plating at 'Rick's Café' at Palmwoods, on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, on April 23. I can tell you that Rick's is one of the great success stories in the Brisbane/Sunshine Coast region. Great retro ambience, fantastic well-priced meals, cool licenced bar, beer garden, capacity crowds - all makes for a great music night out, with dining and drinks as well. If you think that the retro café in the movie 'Pulp Fiction' was cool - that was tame! You can see some of the cream of the Sunshine Coast music talent at Rick's, in intimate surroundings. So ... as the great man said: "Do yourself a favour". (See the link below) https://www.facebook.com/ricksgaragediner

07.01.2022 Do yourself a favour and take a listen to great new Aussie talent 'Cypher'. There never seems to be a shortage of new talent and this girl is the real deal. https://www.facebook.com/xcypherxmexifxyouxcanx?ref=profile

06.01.2022 "Ok, who stuffed up that ending?" ... Warren 'Woz' Meacham and Wayne 'Will' Williams in The Rubber Band early days.

06.01.2022 Just to prove that we don't always JUST pick on drummers ... Who said bass playing was easy? A boy was learning to play the bass. ... After his first lesson his dad asks him how the lesson went and he says, "It went good dad ... I learned my first note." After the 2nd lesson his dad asks him how the lesson went and he replies, "Great dad ... I learned another note today," And after the 3rd lesson he dad again asks him how the lesson went and says, "Excellent ... I learned a 3rd note today." On the day of the 4th lesson his dad asks him how the lesson went and he says, "Oh, I couldnt make my lesson today dad cause I had a gig!"

06.01.2022 Our indefatigable drummer likes to get in a bit of extra practice at home.

05.01.2022 In line with what is happening in every other facet of life in Australia during these troubled times, The Rubber Band has suspended all activities until such time as the social distancing measures are no longer required. We extend our best wishes to all our friends and fans and in particular we wish a safe and healthy passage through the troubled waters ahead.

05.01.2022 Q. Why is our drummer wearing shorts, when the rest of the band are wearing longs? A. Because he's got sexy legs, of course. No shit Sherlock!

03.01.2022 Hi fans and followers, check out the new YouTube video for Cheryl Thompson, with The Rubber Band's jingle as background: http://youtu.be/56qdbXa_y20

02.01.2022 The latest stats of the hits on our web site show continued high interest from the USA, with the city of Woodbridge leading the way (as it consistently does), followed by Redmond, Seattle and Ashburn. We must have developed a fan base in Russia as a large number of hits are coming in from the great city of Saint Petersburg. Dublin, Ireland is always up there for consistency God bless the Irish! Also a large number of hits coming in from Makati, which is the business and f...inancial CBD of Manila (the Australian Embassy is also located in Makati) Many other smaller numbers from all over the world too many to list. I wonder how many obscure corners of the world our front-man Warren Wozza Meacham is being recognized during his current world tour? See more

02.01.2022 The view from the balcony of my 6th floor motel unit, on the esplanade at Hervey Bay, when I booked in on Wednesday afternoon. It was a tough gig ... but SOMEONE had to do it!!! They wanted to know where the rest of the famous R.B. were ...
