24.01.2022 Way to go Luke! Luke started his project to make a difference in this world and he certainly has! What began as a mission to build wheelchair ramps at his school so he could access classrooms has developed into ongoing employment for Luke. All while continuing to contribute to the work of The Salvation Army. Luke donates his net profits to the Salvos to help Tasmanians in need of support. He has done things like Paid for personal care packs with Sacred Heart College, to b...e distributed to people experiencing homelessness Helped fund food for the most vulnerable in our community Spread the word about the work of the Salvos by hosting presentations at schools and businesses. Luke has done all of this while employing himself and saving the planet one tree at a time. Last FY Ramp Up saved 99 trees! 19.01.2022 For the last decade the Salvos Sleep Out has kept the vital Street2Home outreach program alive. While Covid-19 has seen many events and fundraisers cancelled, we knew this wasnt even an option for the Salvos Sleep Out. We couldnt put this program at risk, or compromise the support it provides for those experiencing primary homelessness in Hobart. So with the unwavering support of the Hobart community, we adapted, and on Thursday we will be hosting our first virtual Salvos ...Sleep Out. This event is open to everybody, you can register to sleep out or just tune into the Facebook live stream and watch on the night. Please join with us and learn more about the issue of homelessness, and the part we can all play to address the causes and consequences of rough sleeping. If youre able, please consider supporting a Salvos Sleep Out participant, because homelessness has no place in our society https://salvossleepout.salvationarmy.org.au/ A huge thank you to everyone who has signed up so far and to the amazing businesses that have gone above and beyond to support the Street2Home program. 14.01.2022 Were getting inquiries about plans for the 41st Toy Run, due to go ahead on Saturday December 5. Heres the latest from our partners at the Motorcycle Riders Association South: Toy Run 2020 mid August Update We have recieved a number questions about the Toy Run and if it is still going ahead this year with some talk about it being cancelled. ... We can assure everyone that there has been no cancellation at this stage and discussions are still ongoing with all relevant stakeholders and authorities and that until we announce one way or another one should assume that the event will proceed in some form or another. We are working hard to get an answer locked in and as everyone can likely understand given the ongoing pandemic this is a hard process to work through. So, in short. No we havent announced a cancellation and we havent been informed by any parties at this point in time that the event cannot go ahead, all avenues of communication are still open with stake holders and authorities both local and state government under the direction of their federal counterparts. Dont write us off yet! Kind Regards, The committee of the South Motorcycle Riders Association of Tasmania, Inc. MRA South

01.01.2022 On this day 140 years ago, two converts of The Salvation Army from the United Kingdom held a meeting in Botanic Park Adelaide where they famously invited "anyone who hasnt had a meal today" to come home with them. They then wrote to William Booth and asked him to send officers of The Salvation Army who formally established the movement here in Australia the following year. 140 years of serving Australians - from a meal invitation in an Adelaide park, to transformed lives wh...erever there is hardship and injustice. This is Pro Harts painting "Meeting in the park", remembering that occasion on September 5, 1880.
