25.01.2022 Painting of the pergola continues and will take another few days to complete. 4 new hanging baskets with petunias and 3 types of strawberries have been installed. Cucumber, rocket, lavender and eggplant have been planted in the grape vine beds.... We are hoping to get 2 grape vines from the nursery in Maryborough later this week. No one in Hervey bay has them.
23.01.2022 More good stuff from the garden. Strawberries, nectrine, passionfruit and of course, tomatoes.
22.01.2022 Arbor and pergola painting
22.01.2022 2 apple trees are in, which now completes our mini orchard. The guy at the nursery said the first few apples would be weird shaped and he was right. We have 2 starting already, which you can see in the photos.
21.01.2022 Got the deck finished and the framework for the garden behind the screening. This, we will fill with gardenias.
12.01.2022 Lots more flowers are coming out on the crepe myrtles and the bees are loving it
11.01.2022 Today we made a start on painting the arbor and pergola. What a difference.
09.01.2022 Another great morning in the garden. We got the 2nd big bed prepared and planted snow peas and capsicum. The corn isn't doing too well, so we loaded it with mushroom and sugar cane mulch. Hopefully, that will kick it along. We also scored a grape vine yesterday from Maryborough nursery and in it went this morning. Can't wait till this grows up and over the pergola.
04.01.2022 Today we dug out the last veggie patch and started moving 3 more cubic metres of garden soil to it, the new gardenia bed and the corner bench garden bed. Too hot to finish today so will do a bit more tomorrow morning.
03.01.2022 Today we built a small garden and bench seat in the back north east corner of the yard. There is a large tree growing in the neighbours yard and we are hoping it gives this new garden some shade eventually. We will build a small deck to save on mowing in this corner, but that can wait. The pool and beer are calling :)
02.01.2022 Over supply of tomatoes equals passata. The onion and garlic are the only 2 things not from the garden.
02.01.2022 Solar pool heating is being installed and will be finished tomorrow, extending the swimming season from 6-7 months to 9-10 months.
