23.01.2022 EXCERPT; When it came to hiding things the prisoners were both cunning and desperate in their endeavours. The gaol provided a thousand and one places to hide things, and sometimes finding them was like searching for the proverbial needle in a haystack. The inmates stashed the majority of contraband in their cells and it was common to find drugs and syringes hidden inside their foam mattresses. They would cut slits in the mattresses with razor blades and then hide the gear inside them. During cell searches, we would often find gaol brews and bongs hidden inside the toilet cisterns.

19.01.2022 EXCERPT: With the extraction team now in position on the rooftop I quickly did one final check to make sure we were all still properly hooked on and ready to rock. Thumbs up from both team-mates we were ready to go. As the team began to slowly advance down the rooftop towards the prisoner, he once again came at me with the lump of wood. This time, however, we were on a level playing field and I was able to effectively ward off his blows with my shield and then use my baton ...to belt him properly. After a couple of no-nonsense baton strikes, the lump of wood suddenly flew out of his hand. This was the opportunity I’d been waiting for and I seized it with glee. I threw my shield and baton away and then launched myself through the air in a full-length dive that knocked the prisoner down onto the rooftop. As soon as he was horizontal I wasted no time in applying my favourite hold ‘the choker’ and within seconds his lights were beginning to dim. He was now rendered useless. See more

11.01.2022 Excerpt; During my time in the gaols, I’d got to know Cashman’s form only too well. The Angel of Death had earned her tag due to the misfortunes suffered by a number of her former lovers during their relationships with her. One had been shot dead during a botched armed holdup attempt. The bottom line with Julie Anne Cashman was that she was a hard-line bitch who was well connected and respected by some of the upper echelon of heavy crims in New South Wales gaols. As far as tough bitches go, there’s a story of Cashman being involved in a fight and receiving a direct kick in the groin. She turned to her combatant and said, ‘My boyfriend fxxxs me harder than that.’
