21.01.2022 Member Monday with Andrea Barker... Andi, as she is known at The Shed, understands what's required to reach the next level. Never one to give up, she is hard on herself, fights to the very end to get that last rep in, but most importantly enjoys the journey. Andi in her own words...... Life for me has changed substantially since becoming a member of The Shed. Having not been involved in sports since early high school & shying away from gyms due to fear of failure and the ridicule that maybe (and was at times) pointed in my direction, I let my fitness & health take a back seat in my life. However, today it’s a whole new story; the support, encouragement and the little push to go that little bit harder has completely changed who I am. I never miss a FIRE session & fit 3 ICE classes a week and LOVE every single minute of it. To the point my husband and 2 teenage sons are now involved so it’s become a family affair that we love doing together. Toni and Zee have built not just a gym but a community where support, encouragement and friendship is all part of the package. I am so overwhelmingly grateful to these beautiful women and whilst this old girl has it in her I’ll be there until they take me away to the nursing home

16.01.2022 Member Monday here at The Shed. Today’s lucky spotlight member is Mel Donaldson. Mel is another one of our original ICE clients. With us from the very beginning.... thank you Mel, take a bow. Here’s a few words from Mel herself THE SHED! - Where do I even start!! I have loved it ever since I took my first step in the door. ... I have never been a gym person at all, so this was a huge step for me and out of my comfort zone. Both Tee and Zee have the knowledge and skills required to run a great gym. They go out of their way to make sure you're pushing yourself to your absolute best every time. (with also a little giggle in-between). The reason why I keep coming back to "The Shed " is that no class is ever the same and they are always a challenge. You walk in and are always greeted with a smile or how are you. For me, that's the key!! BOTH Tee and Zee work as a great team and have created a community gym like no other. If you’re thinking about joining "The Shed " Just do it and stop thinking about it! 16.01.2022 Thursday is education day at The Shed and today it’s all about warming up the body ready for exercise. It’s so easy to be tempted to skip a warm up, to save a few minutes during a cardio or weight session. Warm ups are important... we all should know this! But do we know why?... It loosens the joints and increases blood flow to make the body more flexible. This makes the muscle less likely to rip, tear or twist in a harmful way during your workout. It promotes a higher heart rate to provide better blood circulation as it prepares the body for heavy exercise. 15.01.2022 Member Monday Here we are again Shedders. This weeks legend, to kick off the New Year, is Mollie Smith. Here’s what Mollie had to say about her time at The Shed Like many others, 2020 was a challenging year for me. I began my teaching career during a global pandemic and it took a toll on my physical and mental health. Without having netball to turn to as an outlet, The Shed was my saving grace! I instantly felt like part of the shed family right from my first consul...tation meeting with Zee and Tee. I began my shed journey in September 2020 when I joined as an I.C.E and FIRE member. Weight training is something I have always wanted to partake in and I’ve always had an excuse not to- I’m not strong enough I don’t know how I can’t afford it. FIRE has been an amazing introduction into weight training and I actually look forward to my training nights each week. Zee and Tee are so supportive each session, focusing on correct technique to ensure you are getting the most out of your training. I cannot rate FIRE and the support from Zee and Tee high enough. I can’t believe the difference FIRE has made to my overall strength. My favourite thing about FIRE is the progress you make every week. It really is a great feeling seeing the numbers going up on your progress sheet, knowing that you’re getting stronger and stronger every single session. If you’re considering taking the plunge into weight training but you’re scared and full of excuses like I was, definitely book a consultation with Zee and Tee. Their knowledge and expertise in this area is second to none. I really enjoy the variety of The Shed’s ICE classes too. Again, Zee and Tee are super supportive in all areas of ICE, correcting technique, encouraging and being that supportive voice that I often need to keep pushing myself. I’m getting married in March (hopefully ) and for a long time, all I cared about was being ‘skinny’ to look good in my wedding dress. I can confidently say that now, because of my training at the Shed, I no longer care about being ‘skinny’ and that all I care about is feeling happy, healthy and strong within myself and that is definitely how I’m feeling in the lead up to my big day. My mental and physical health is the best it has been in a long time and The Shed has been a big contributor to that. The Shed provides a welcoming and supportive environment. You’re always greeted with a smile and a high five. No matter what stage you are in your fitness journey, you will always feel supported. Everyone has to start somewhere- and The Shed is the best place to start. See more

14.01.2022 Often we hear the words "I don't have time" or "I can't" or sometimes we even see our clients shake their head when they feel as though they cannot do that one last rep. How we speak to ourselves directly influences how we experience things, how we perceive things and how we live each day. Rather than say "I don't have time", try, "it's not a priority" and see how this makes you feel.... Rather than shake your head from side to side, nod it up and down and remind yourself how far you've travelled. Rather than think, I can't, try, I will and bask in the accomplishment. We all have a choice... work towards choosing a positive mindset and language and reap the benefits!

13.01.2022 We've recently been trialing TRX classes at The Shed, and our crew are loving them! TRX stands for Total Resistance Exercises, and refers to a specialised form of suspension training that utilizes equipment developed by former U.S. Navy SEAL Randy Hetrick. TRX exercises deliver a fast and effective total body workout, that uses your body weight and gravity as resistance to build strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, core and joint stability.... It helps build a rock-solid core - any movement performed on a TRX Suspension Trainer requires that you brace and stabilise with your abs, obliques and lower-back so you can leverage your own bodyweight as resistance. 12.01.2022 So, some of you might be surprised to hear that we nanna nap.... Yes, most days!! Here at The Shed, we are all about the self care... All about our recovery... We work hard, starting most days super early and finishing most days super late. We train hard. Switching between both FIRE and ICE. We also fuel our body, just as hard (most days ) We are not perfect but we understand the value of being consistent, moderation AND recovery. If you don’t sleep well (or not enough) you definitely won’t train well. Gotta go... time for our nap #seeyouattheshed .... later

11.01.2022 Member Monday again Shedders. This week we celebrate Ash Mannagh - a.k.a Smashly. Smashly has been with us at The Shed from the very beginning and each and every week she brings her A game to both FIRE and ICE. A few words from Smash herself !! *****************... For someone who grew up in such an active sporting family I never thought I would ever have such a fear of joining a gym. But yep that was me with such a fear of failure or not "fitting" the whole gym persona that come with it to then being diagnose with a chronic illness at such a young age my life changed. I have always struggled with maintaining my health and well being over the years and my weight being a huge concern for me. I had tried it all from calorie counting to intermittent fasting, fat freezing procedures, daily medication, all different types of PT programs and weight training to eventually giving up because I just couldn’t get my head around it and why I never got the results I wanted which then lead me to reaching out for help and that’s where I found The Shed Albury. Today is where its a whole new story; I train 5 days a week without missing a day (3 days FIRE 2 days ICE), I eat more then I could ever imagine without missing out on any foods I love to indulge in, drink a ridiculous 5-6L water a day (whoever thought that was possible), still enjoy my morning coffee and most importantly I’ve learn how to love myself in a way I didn’t think was possible. However, None of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for the support, encouragement, dedication and commitment from our beautiful trainers Zee and Tee. They push you beyond your limits and make you fight til your very last rep to get the best out of you every single session. I will be forever grateful for not only the gym but the community they haven’t created.

I’m sure you’ve seen Lisa strutting her stuff around the gym, as she attends most arvo sessions during the week!! She’s a champ at most things and always always always gives everything she has to every session. Take a bow Lisa 2020 is/was a difficult year, however, it is the year the borders best locally owned, female operated, gym opened. The passion these ladies have for wha...t they do is on a whole other level. Not only do they push you, believe in you and genuinely feel proud of your achievements. They have also created a community. Along with Tee and Zee’s support, you have every single person at The Shed standing beside you, pushing you to do your best, creating an inner strength you never knew you had. When you work out at The Shed, you are a team working together for success. I have been with these ladies for a little over a year. I am thankful for the strength I now have, continual improvement of my energy levels and fitness as well as my own sense of well-being. 07.01.2022 LISTEN TO YOUR BODY...IT'S ALWAYS COMMUNICATING WITH YOU I will be the first to admit that I have been guilty of getting carried away with my training, keeping abreast of The Shed and sometimes letting recovery slide. . .... There are many factors that affect our recovery: training output, hormones, stress, life, energy levels, sleep and schedule to name a few. . . My biggest advice is to START LISTENING IN and to ALL elements. You live in your body and you’re the only one who knows exactly how’s it's feeling at any given moment. Dissect yourself to understand yourself & become you’re own expert. THEN you’ll know which areas that may require external assistance. . . Going for a walk with my pooch and breathing in the fresh air is a perfect way for me to chill out, recoup and recharge the batteries. . . What is your body telling you to do today? We usually see K strutting her diamond kicks most afternoon sessions... although lately, she has been seen working her butt off in the am classes too!! ********** Zee and Tee have created such a wonderful, comfortable environment! They are always smiling, motivating and helping each person to perform the exercises correctly. The workouts are tough and they push each person to their own limits, I end each session feeling proud of what I achieved and looking forward to the next session. 06.01.2022 Pull ups ... Urgh they are one of the worst/best upper body exercise for strengthening the back muscles. To perform a pullup, you start by hanging onto a bar with your palms facing away from you and your arms extended fully. You then pull yourself up, (chest leading) until your chin is above the bar. Actively bring in your elbows down into torso and squeeze shoulder blades together. Pullups strengthens the arm and shoulder muscles. ... Improves grip, overall body strength and fitness level. Make no mistake, pullups are a challenging exercise. But they’re worth adding into your weekly strength FIRE training routine. Now, most of us mere humans need the assistance of gym bands to lift our body weight but here is Mason (from our Teen FIRE Program) doing his very first set of UNASSISTED Pull UPS!! 05.01.2022 Breakfast for champions anyone?? We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day... (along with mid morning... lunch... afternoon lunch and dinner.... and probably a snack before bed too.. ) So breakfast is definitely up there... ... but for most of us, it can be super rushed in the mornings (and dare I say it, skipped altogether ). A bag of hot chips at lunch at your desk, hardly counts as a healthy nutritious meal. At The Shed we take ALL our meals VERY s...eriously... I’m sure quite a few of you have seen us eating between classes at some stage .... girls gotta eat ... am I right.... So here’s a go to, quick and easy 3 minute omelette recipe. It literally takes 3 minutes to prepare AND cook! Still not enough time...? Cook the night before and heat up on the way out the door!! 05.01.2022 MEMBER MONDAY...with Nat Dickson Where do we start with Nat...an absolute treasure she is! Nat goes above and beyond with absolutely everything she does at The Shed....from welcoming new members and making them feel comfortable, helping us set out equipment, her approach to her training....the list goes on. Her recent commitment to our Commit to be Fit Challenge was nothing short of outstanding. Whilst we are all proud of our Challenge clients, Nat's commitment requires ackn...owledgement....Nat completed almost four cards and introduced 5 new members to The Shed! Nat you are an absolute SUPERSTAR! ********************************* Where do I begin? I’ve always been an active person. Whether that was sports or gym training. However I still have days like anyone where I fall into a trap of ‘can’t be bothered’. But training at The Shed, that overruns the excuses. Training at The Shed is such an addiction of mine. Training at The Shed isn’t like going to a normal gym, it’s so much more. It’s seeing friends, laughing, having fun and more than anything kicking my own goals and new PB's everyday (and the feeling of doing something you never could, that’s like a bungee jump Adrenalin rush!). I began FIRE this year, and could not look back. I love the community vibe each session (almost like a sisterhood). I will regularly admit I am 100% addicted to doing FIRE. The chance of missing hitting a new PB would kill me! I’ve been doing ICE for a few years and although hitting PB’s can be harder to achieve, knowing how awesome I’ll feel after the session always gets me motivated. Mornings are my biggest challenge to get to at The Shed however like anything, if you want it enough you’ll find a way. I like anyone have had plenty of body insecurities but the encouragement and compliments that are shared every session at The Shed, that fades. Gyms can be a scary place where all the ‘flabby bits’ show and we can feel ever so vulnerable. But at The Shed everyone is so accepting and it really shows. I’ve gone from the girl who would worry every second of who was looking at her, and seriously freaking out about if she looked okay, to accepting myself, my weight and working everyday to be my best self. With doing FIRE and ICE both 3 days a week (training 6 days in total) I sleep better, I eat better, I train harder, I’m SOOOO much happier, and it’s all because I love and enjoy what I do at The Shed. If I could give one tip to anyone, it’s: Whatever you do today, be sure it’s one step closer to where you want to be tomorrow

03.01.2022 All too often we see shedders shaking their head because they didn’t nail >insert exercise< It’s so easy to forget that a few weeks ago you couldn’t run to the corner without stopping. You didn’t finish the pushups on your toes ... but 3 weeks ago you weren’t getting the depth you have now, even on your knees!! Couldn’t quite finish your second set of split squats and you feel like a failure ..... WHAT THE !?!?!? ... You forgot to mention you’ve increased your weight by 15kg since starting the program!!! 01.01.2022 We all need some support at the gym from time to time, but there are some of us that need just that little bit more! Yes, we’re talking about breast support. Whatever you call your breasts, and whatever size they are, they’re all made up of the same tissue. A lack of proper support during repetitive and continuous movements can result in soreness, pain and irreversible damage that leads to sagging over time. Choosing the right sports bra is important, and let’s be honest, so...metimes it’s not easy particularly for women with larger breasts. Some women wear bras under bras to control movement, but you really shouldn’t have to. There are a lot of reputable sports bra companies out there, but do your research on which bra is best for your size.
