20.01.2022 Hi all difficult times for all of us. I hope you are all battened down and as comfortable as one can be under the circumstances we are all sharing together. The WA Government decided that gun shops should close. What annoys me is that they did this without consultation with the firearm industry and stated that it was for PUBLIC SAFETY sorry? I thought this was about a virus?. Many gun shops are actually rural supply outlets and they effectivly took away all daily supplies fr...om farmers, the very people we all rely on for food?...absolute idiots!!totally out of touch with the community they represent! With WAFTA (Western Australia Firearm Traders Association) lobbying along with members of the public and others (thank you for your input .we need more of it) the government realised their stupididty of their ways (to a degree) and decided that the GUN SALES PART of the shop would be restricted but sales could progress as normal for other non firearm related products.. so it seems that we can sell ammunition to 1: Primary producers 2: professional shooters and 3:Aboriginal persons for use on tribal lands. It seems that you cannot walk into my store and buy ammo at all unless you meet the criteria above. Also if you do meet the criteria above you still cannot walk into my store and buy it....you have to book an appointment to do this....absolute BS. In my opinion. Anyone that has been approved by WA law to be in possession of a firearm as issued by WA police licencing should automatically have this right?..seems like after paying ridiculously overpriced fees to become licenced then the licence is revoked any time government sees fit?...this is BS. So the Government opened their eyes and realised their stupidity and amended their initial BS document and noted that it was because of the COVID-19(previously public safety oops!) that we can continue to trade...WITH WHAT?...And how?. How do i define a primary producer? How do I define a professional shooter? How do I define an aboriginal for use on titled land?...with the risk of a$50,000 to $250,000 fine...REALLY? I would say that 40 % of my customers shoot on behalf of farmers that are happy to sit at home and let others control the vermin on their propperty. So how do these persons obtain ammunition to support the farmer?...or does the farmer now have to get a firearm?....ooops! My mistake...i cannot release a firearm to anyone even if they have a licence for it approved by WA Firearm Licencing? Hey listen...i am prepared to fight the virus and work together and Happy to close down and ride the storm with all of my fellow Aussies....but quite frankly this attack by government is utter BULLSHIT See more

06.01.2022 SSAA WA met with Wapol senior personnel this week to discuss the current licensing issues that members are facing in relation to the Covid restrictions Wapol h...ave committed to review the declined applications with applicants being invited to re-apply in a simple process , original lodged forms such as the serviceability certificates will be recognized saving a burden on the applicant and the gunshop’s. WA Police Force Licensing Services Firearms ask that those affected do not attend Australia Post outlets and re submit their application but rather wait to be contacted by Licensing Services -Firearms who will give you the option to reinstate your application. Further details on this process will be sent directly to affected applicants and licence holders and the SSAA WA will communicate further details to members in the next few days on how it will be managed. Many other issues are being worked through such as when will the shops open and we would ask our members to be patient in these difficult times

01.01.2022 Appologies for the delay in updates.. WAFTA have been busy engaging with other industries all day.. One small relief for some or our traders today was the Redra...w and Correction of the closure of thier business premsies. Prehaps not the most thought through plan by Govt as this has heavily impacted many rural communities and brought undue stress and pannic to an already worrying time. The implementation of these new allowances are still unacceptable and unwarranted as law abiding and legal firearms owners do not pose a security risk as stated by the Premier.

01.01.2022 Ooops!...My Bad!...forgot the pointy bits..!!
