25.01.2022 Australian friends - this is one example of why we need to be vigilant and vote with our $$ at the supermarket. The jar on the left is Australian made and owned... using 99% Australian products and cost $2. The jar in the right was made in Belgium (0% Australian products) and cost $1.80. Coles and Woolworths are slowly removing Australian brands from the shelves and replacing them with generic (and often not Australian) products. The only way we can stop this is to read the labels and buy Australian where we can. Otherwise before we know it we won't have the option to buy Australian products. We won't know where our food is coming from or what is really in it. And that is an Australia I don't want to live in. (PS I have made this post public - if you are passionate about Australia and Australian made as I am please share)

24.01.2022 Coles also has an app for shopping - similar to Woolworths. I am in the process of comparing them - will advise of my findings. www.colesshopmate.com.au

17.01.2022 MARKETS - today went to the market at the (Glenorchy) showgrounds, found it not really what we were looking for. Then went to the Melville Street Farmers' Market - just great, even though we got there several hours after it started, there was still a lot to choose from. Great fresh produce. Bought fresh silver beet and beetroot, and sampled some wonderful pastes (quince and apple were both great).

15.01.2022 What to do today? Might go to the Richmond Village Fair

09.01.2022 Saw skinned and boned flathead fillets for $41.95 a kilo.

06.01.2022 It pays to read labels. I prefer to buy Tasmanian if possible. A close second is Australian. It’s amazing how many labels bearing the Australian logo, are able to use the logo when all the ingredients are not Australian. For people who just glance at the label it may appear that the product is wholly or majorly Australian. Some are merely assembled or packaged in Australia. Please read the label of the product you are intending to purchase. For once a few cents, or a dollar extra, you can support a local producer.

06.01.2022 As well as being The Shopping Lady, I am now The Rose Lady. I was not really getting enough shopping work, so have done a NEIS course (Cert III in small business). I have been pruning and caring for roses for years, and can now offer a regular or irregular rose care service all year round, as well as shopping.

04.01.2022 TODAY - a hamper (Tasmanian of course) - chutneys, fudge, jam, honey, meringues, quince paste, conserve, cheese, worcester sauce, biscuits, and (last but by no means least) wine. So many delicious and beautiful local products to choose from - another very happy customer.

01.01.2022 Ok family and friends. I went shopping at Coles yesterday (Sunday 27th October) and l needed corn kernels. So l picked up the cheapest tin which of course was ...Coles branded corn kernels (which also had the biggest shelf display). As l went to put the tin into my trolley l checked where they were grown. Too my shock (but l guess not too shocked) they were grown in Thailand. So l thought stuff this and started looking for something Australian grown. I found Edgell corn kernels (and much smaller shelf display. Tucked away nearly couldnt see them. Really had to look for them). I wish l had taken a photo of the shelf displays but unfortunately didnt. I brought the Edgell corn kernels because they are Australian grown and packed in Bathurst NSW. And what about the price you are asking. Coles branded corn kernels grown in Thailand were 90c. Edgell corn kernels grown in Australia were $1.00. So for 10c extra we could all be helping and supporting our great Aussie farmers. So how about we do that guys. So this is where l need your help. I need you too share my post, get your friends and their friends and so on to share this post. Lets all get this out. See more
