22.01.2022 SNAKE BITE 1ST AID (please share with all you know) With snake activity on the rise it's the perfect time to brush up on the correct First Aid techniques in the unlikely event of being bitten. Please take time to watch the attached video and pass it on to all your friends. It has great advice and will help save the life of anyone if bitten. Note: any type of elastic / stretch bandages will suffice. You do not need to have the ones spoken about in the video, but they are a great product. If anyone would like some, please let me know and I can arrange supply. Call anytime for help or advice. Stay safe friends. The Snake Removalist 0413592398 https://youtu.be/dmJF494NB-A

17.01.2022 SNAKES AND BIRD NETTING Please do regular inspections of your anti bird netting on your fruit trees and berry patches. It is a trap for snakes and once caught in it, there is no escape for them. They are at their most angry and dangerous if tangled and should never be approached. In their attempts to escape they just get more tangled and cut to pieces and they die a slow lingering death if left tangled. There is rodent and reptile proof netting available to use if requested.Stay alert and stay safe friends. If you do notice one caught up, please call me to have the snake quickly and safely removed anytime 0413592398

13.01.2022 SNAKE BITE FIRST AID FOR DOGS AND CATS I have spoken in the past about 1st aid for people if bitten by a snake, but as there is more chance of a pet being bitten, I thought it would be a good idea to inform in regard to 1st aid for our furry friends. Keep an eye on you dogs and cats as they will usually notice a snake long before you do. If they are acting strange, investigate immediately and get your pets away from the danger. Just remember dogs and cats go for the snakes, n...Continue reading

12.01.2022 The mechanics of snake bites.....Awesome misunderstood creatures. Another outstanding article from a leader in the field and colleague Ross McGibbon. Enjoy the read

05.01.2022 LOWLAND COPPERHEADS.....these are by far our most common snake in the district / shire. Tigers are starting to become more prevalent now but these outnumber them 5 / 6 to 1 at present. As you can see from the video, they are really reluctant to bite or even strike even though the man is annoying it somewhat. I was called out to a pair this afternoon in Kilmore that were going through their mating ritual. Unfortunately they were unable to be located when I arrived. After a lon...g search they evaded capture. Please keep your eyes open 24 hours a day and be careful when out and about. They are super active at present. (Note: the video is for illustration purposes only to show their general behaviour) If you do see one or more, please just observe from a distance and call me if you need them moved. 02.01.2022 SNAKES AND PETS.....(dogs and cats) There have been multiple snake bites on pets in the Mitchell Shire in recent weeks already and activity will increase steadily over the next few months as the weather keeps warming. Your pets have evolved to be attracted to movement. It is what triggers their hunting instinct.Dogs and cats will go to a snake on every occasion unfortunately. Our native snakes do not have dogs and cats on their menu and are therefore not at all attracted to ...them, but will attack aggressively to defend themselves. If you notice your pet acting strangely or barking unusually, please go and investigate immediately. It could be the difference between their life and death or in the very least a huge vet bill. If you find that it is a snake, remove your pet from the area immediately. Do not attempt to kill or capture it as they will be on the defensive and at their most dangerous at this time. Please call me if you have any questions or need advice or service anytime. And please visit my page for regular updates and information throughout the snake season. The Snake Removalist See more

02.01.2022 This big girl crossed the track this morning when I went up the mountain for a drive. She was 4 1/2 to 5 foot long and as calm as can be. While filming she noticed me and came right up to my foot to check me out and then just turned and went on her way. This is an Eastern Brown Snake.....arguably our most aggressive and deadly snake. Just goes to show if you don't bother them, they won't bother you. Stay aware friends https://www.facebook.com//UzpfSVNDOjc2ODYyODg5MzY4NDIyNQ/

01.01.2022 A real eye opener for all to see. This is an awesome documentary by a colleague / fellow snake catcher and world class nature photographer Ross McGibbon that is a real insight into the habits of our very important but much maligned snake neighbours. Kindy shared with his permission. Please sit back and enjoy the experience. The Snake Removalist
