24.01.2022 A big crowd has come down to watch The Emus chase history (and these trophies) Brock Coleman Christopher Brown Luke Versace Nick Williams #emus

24.01.2022 The countdown is finally over with the Emus' making their long awaited return to the ice tomorrow night at the O'Brien Arena! After an intense pre-season of talking about possibly training and what uniforms we should wear in 2019, we feel 100% prepared to take the pre-season comp (or as the Victorian Curling Association call it 'the beginners comp') by storm! In an attempt to ensure that the silverware ends up in the 'Emu nest' we have entered two teams, Team Holmes and Team ...Brown. Team Holmes will be captained by Matthew John Holmes and will feature Stephen Wishart and Sean Stingers Team Brown will be led by Christopher Brown and will feature Luke Versace and Nick Williams. The 7th Emu, Brock Coleman is away this week celebrating his birthday with his family but will join one of the teams next week in what is sure to a gripping game of rock scissors paper between Holmesy and Brownie. As always updates will be provided regularly to our incredibly loyal fans throughout the season. The Emus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vd5RMeP9M2s

19.01.2022 Well the Emus' debut season has come to an end and its fair to say that we exceeded all of our expectations by avoiding the wooden spoon (even if we did so only by having a superior percentage to Team Huggett who must surely be questioning whether they can continue to call themselves 'curlers') Although we were out performed by every team except Team Huggett (the wooden spooners/worst curling team in Victoria), The Emus have unanimously decided not apply to Victorian Curling... Association for a priority pick in the non-existent draft. While this might mean our accent to the top of the World Curling is likely to take a bit longer, we feel asking for help from the league would be an admission that we are poorly run/borderline hopeless entity. Put another way we don't we to be looked at as the Carlton Football Club of the curling world. Now that the season has ended the next event on the teams calendar is the MVP count which at this stage is tentatively scheduled for Melbourne Cup Eve (time and venue still tbd) Once again thanks to all our fans- your loyal support has been made our almost weekly loses and occasional draws feel like wins! Love from the Emus.

18.01.2022 Could be our best chance in representing the Green and Gold.

17.01.2022 Monday saw round #2 of the pre-season championship with Team Holmes fielding no change (Holmes, Stingers and Wishart) and Team Brown fielding 1 change OUT: Brown and IN: Coleman to slide with ((Versace and Williams). The victorious captain from the week prior was on compassionate leave due to a poorly pooch, this led his team to dedicate their match to the ill dog. Team Holmes on the other hand were not as moved by Browns dog dilemma, and simply dedicated their match to thems...elves... Team Holmes, after losing 3-8 to Team Brown the week prior, were looking forward to taking on a team with little/to no curling experience. However there were some early nerves at the detection of a Chad Kroger like accent (Canadian) within the opposing team. This combined with the bad karma of dedicating the match to themselves was enough for Team Holmes to lose the un-losable going down 3-4. This one hurt, destroying and championship dream and leaving individuals in the team wondering if curling was something they would continue to pursue as a profession. In contrast Team Brown were brimming with confidence after the previous week, even though the team trailed 1-0 in the early stages of the match. From there Williams, Versace and Coleman went on a 9-0 run to propel them into championship favouritism! In a true act of sportsmanship Team Brown gave ongoing tutelage to a developing opposition team helping them to a final deficit of 9-3. As if dedicating the match to Browns dog wasn’t enough the boys continued to show respect by cocking their legs and pretending to urinate on Team Holmes belongings. With the upcoming public holiday championship play will be postponed until 18 March - will this be enough time for Team Holmes to recuperate and challenge for an unlikely win? Or will this be too much time off for a rampant Team Brown? Stay tuned...

16.01.2022 The Emus dream of playing finals is shattered On the one year anniversary of the Mayweather-McGregor fight, Victoria’s most talked about Curling Team, The Southern Emu’s, were locked in a epic battle of wills, skills and trash at the O’Brian Group Arena. They were also playing ‘The Chicks’ who happened to be led by one of Australia’s best curlers, Gerald. The night started with what can only be described as an edgy Sean Stingers letting everyone on The Emus know not to panic...Continue reading

05.01.2022 The season is upon us.

05.01.2022 Monday night at O’Brien arena saw the Emus squad split into two teams for the start of pre-season tournament (aka ‘the beginners comp’). The sides were led by last years’ two most adversarial team mates in Matthew Holmes and Chris Brown. The teams were selected via a draft with Captain Holmes selecting Steve Wishart with pick 1 and Sean Stingers with pick 3 while Brownie chose Luke Versace with his first pick and Nick Williams with his second. Although the Emus’ hoped to fac...Continue reading

05.01.2022 After a gruelling three weeks of competition the Emus will play in their first ever Grand Final tonight at the O'Brein Arena! Led by the incomparable Christopher Brown, the team of Brock Coleman, Nick Williams and Luke Versace will go head to head with Team Stack for the right to call themselves Victoria's best (beginners) curling team. The boys are feeling good about their chances and feeling highly motivated to do it for not just their fans but also injured Emu Sean Stinge...rs who is winged with a suspected fractured wrist following an accident on the ice last Monday night. Score updates will appear from 7:30pm Victorian Time and hopefully photos of the trophy presentation at 10pm #wearetheemus #teamofdestiny #timetoendthedrought #curlingvictoria #theroadtobeiging

02.01.2022 Let’s never forget the determination of this unlikely hero. His name is upon the rink of which we battle. #anythingispossible #oneweektogo
