25.01.2022 More organising and minimising!
24.01.2022 This really resonated with us #makeithappen #livelifenow
22.01.2022 The first night was a treat #bloodycold #skenescreek we had planned to stay at Stephens Falls on good advice. But the road was closed and we headed straight down to the coast and took the first available site. We were tired and excited all at the same time. Prepared us for all the last minute changes that are required in this life xx
22.01.2022 Impromptu trip to Cape Trib on Saturday. Was very relaxing and lots of beautiful spots to explore. Was good to see lots of people out and about exploring. I’m sure it’s a totally other world to the south of Australia. Sending much love and good vibes to you guys. Xxxx
21.01.2022 Hot Diggity Dog! Just what the dr ordered!
19.01.2022 Weekends are full of adventure.
19.01.2022 Day 3 - Oliver’s Journal Hi, so this is the third day travelling Oz. We went to a campsite, but it was tent only so we couldn’t fit! We decided to play on the rocks next to the beach. The caves and rivers there were so cool. The waves were massive. On our drive to the next camp - Aire River we passed some amazing sites including ghost trees! At the new camp I had heaps of space. I played footy, I drove the car and we went for a two hour walk to the ocean. The most fun I had was wrestling Dad and Mum. I’d like to be an umpire, I think I bounce the ball very good and Dad said I would be a great umpire.
19.01.2022 These are the pictures from our trip up Cape York recently. You need time like 7+ days - because there are plenty if places to relax. We were up there right at the end of the season and the nights with no wind were really hard work in the swags. My highlights: Punsand Bay Caravan Park Somerset... Muttee Bay Sams Creek Fruit Bat Falls (epic massage under falls) Oliver’s highlights: The war relics on the mainland The war museum on Horn Island Green Hill Fort - Thursday Island Tyson highlights: 3 day Island Tour Punsand Bay Fruit Bat, Twin and Elliot Falls
18.01.2022 On the road again this morning. Have finished a few month stint on a station, meet some lovely people and had some great experiences. Have spent the last couple of days at the Alice Springs Tourist Park (lovely spot, very secure, great managers) we were enjoying a few days with our mates the Six Happy Campers! Tyson worked his magic packing our whole lives into the van and the car and I spent $330 on keto groceries! We are full to the brim and heading further north with the intention of being off the grid as often as we can until the path is clear to Poppy’s In Cooktown.
18.01.2022 What an adventure, we found this impressive waterfall after a 35 minute walk. We are in Bloomfield atm hoping to use our weekends to explore for the next few months.
16.01.2022 Just booked into Kulgera NT for 2 nights starting Tuesday. Need to be across the border by 4pm Tuesday to avoid 14 days quarantine. WHAT AN ADVENTURE: have 1328km to drive; a few hours fencing work to complete; paintball with nephews and a camp to pack up - all within 64 hours! Guess we should sleep at some stage too!!!! #doomsday #bordershutdown #SUPREMEC19 #aussieadventure
15.01.2022 ROCK OF KNOWLEDGE... what an experience the parents had this morning. Oliver our resident tour guide took us on an epic walk to the Rock Of Knowedge. We had no idea where or how far. Yes we are now sore!!!! There were massive hill climbs by road, grassy tracks (with a snack sighting ), dry creeks, tiny butterflies, power stations and then on top of a far reaching grassy hill we found the Rock Of Knowledge... a ladder awaiting us - and then a view over the valley to die for. Thanks Ol was so fabulous that you were so confident. You remembered where to go and give us all the info on the way.
13.01.2022 We are safe in Nangkita SA! Have started our first bit of work - camped at an Olive Grove. I plan to update the page each week - currently 3 weeks behind. #greatwork #staypositive For now I have picked some of my favourite pics from the last week before we left Portarlingtion on the 2nd of Feb 2020.... We hope you are all well and not letting the climate of the times get to you too much. We miss everyone loads and hope the posts can provide a laugh or a few minutes distraction. Xx Cara Tys and Ol.
13.01.2022 MY TRAVEL LIFE! Just hanging out at Daly Waters, temp 28, taking my leisurely time preparing for roast chicken dinner. Dreaming about an affordable hair cut.
11.01.2022 Quarantine Bay outside of Cooktown... Ollie had a ball on the rope swing. Then finished the day with dinner at the Lions Den. It’s looking great with new wall art and the atmosphere is pumping with lots of guests there all the time atm.
10.01.2022 So we are driving toward the NT Border. We are being extremely cautious about where we stop, what we touch and only sending one person into petrol stations. Making sure we only do the essential stuff. I’ve just hit service again and have acquired more detail about the 4pm lockout today; not only will the NT police be manning the roads into the state physically (with the help of army personal and Federal police) but will also have technology available to monitor outback entry ...points! At 4pm today all travellers will be required to fill out a declaration either online or at the check point. The paperwork will include details about your current health and your ability to self isolate once you enter the state. People arriving before 4pm are being ask to consider voluntary isolation. We fully support the NT’s decision to do this as they have one of the largest populations of vulnerable Australians. We plan to do everything we can to isolate for as long as we can. Until we hopefully find work on a station and can bunker down for the next few months. What a strange experience, I can only image what it would feel like to drive toward a border in Australia and be confronted by Army personnel. We are feeling for all other people who live and work on the road, it is a difficult and uncertain time. Let’s keep supporting each other and the right thing as we move forward to the next contest. Peace and Love. #coronovirusupdate #travelandwork #wellbeing #health2020 #northernterritory #nt #bordershutdown #borderlockdown #selfisolate
05.01.2022 LORELLA SPRINGS Spent a few days at Lorella Springs before crossing the Qld border a couple of days ago. Was a surprise spot for sure! So many hot springs and adventures to be had. We feel it’s best to plan a long trip here - atleast a week and try come right at the end of the wet season. This way you can be assured that you will find lots of running water and it will just make the activities that little bit better. We had one day of adventure heading out to some falls and ...swimming holes through some good 4WD tracks. It was tiring and fun but we unfortunately didn’t see much flowing water. The actual camp ground near reception was awesome and the shower and toilets were a real treat with a donkey to light with hot water and an ability to shower under the starts with an open roof. Anyway it was lovely but we will have to go back so we can scope out the beach camp available from Lorella Springs. Great Barra fishing, mud crabbing and more 4WD tracks. Anyway check it out great place to go explore. See more
04.01.2022 So not everyday leading up to leaving and planning the route is simple. Three strong minds and lots to do... We have started Oliver’s home schooling with simple daily tasks and the first plan was to go to the high country and study Bush Poetry, Early Settlers and Bush Rangers.... However, big daddy’s making a valid point that we might run out of warm weather to stay as long as we had hoped, hoping around the SA coastline! I’ve added I’d like to go to Corryong and help out with the fires! There is also a trip planned to Kangaroo Island. I know we are all keen to get there and help out. No point just changing the destination because of the fires - I’m sure enough reduced tourism has already hurt these places. It sounds like a few first world issues and I know they are -but with such a massive country and so many places and people to see. It definitely can be a bone of contention at home. Xx
04.01.2022 Fishing trip with Dad and Jan. Had heaps of fun, but was so knackered at the end of the day - we had a shot load of fish to gut and fillet. All stoked up now. Unfortunately the boys stayed home.
01.01.2022 What a wonderfully peaceful few days we had a Anningie Station! Just the most wonderful caring hosts you could hope for. Oliver was in his element getting to ride a 150. I myself was also in my element cooking paleo bread and bone broth from the local produce. Well Tys he also had a lovely time. Thanks again to the Fogherty’s - salt of the earth!
01.01.2022 Day out with the boys on a Bloomfield Escape hire boat. Tyson was our guide today. He did a wonderful job. Sighted 2 crocs lots of bird life and 2 jumping barras ! Tyson Seamer
