14.01.2022 In 2009, long before Activate Ipswich, Jim Mckee participated in our Transforming Spaces project! With empty shops abound in the CBD we approached Council with a plan that was based on Renew Newcastle, but alas no support was forthcoming. Jim Mckee, on the other hand, offered us the use of a cozy space in Cactus Espresso Bar - which became vacant when Gemutlich moved to the CBD - for free for over 3 months. Unlike Council, Jim had the foresight, innovation and imagination to... understand the importance of the arts in creating cultural capital in Ipswich. Subsequently we had over 36 Art exhibitions, numerous philosophy cafes (many held at Cactus Espresso Bar) and other collaborative cultural events that supported over 100 local visual artists, musicians, actors, directors, artisans and creative entrepreneurs. On behalf of all these people and from us THANK YOU JIM for opening so many opportunities for artists and for us to collaborate with artists and support the arts.

And don't forget to share it with all your artist friends.
