25.01.2022 Just a little something to help you during social distancing and your stay at home. Lotus Blossum Qigong is gentle and easy to learn. It is presented here in mirror image so just copy along as if in front of your mirror. We will run through the set 3 times to help you become familiar with the movements. Remember to keep your knees off lock, allow your body to relax and breath naturally. A few minutes practise every day, will not only provide your body with a wonderful workout..., you will start to calm the mind - even with the prospect of looking after the kids 24/7 . You don't need a lot of room, so find yourself a quiet spot and take some time just for you. Enjoy See you soon Amanda

23.01.2022 Despite event cancellations, social distancing and self imposed isolation. With fewer students attending class and the resulting financial strain on the business, when the Newcastle Herald asked Amanda about life as a Tai Chi teacher and small business owner during the current pandemic, her response was remarkably positive.

17.01.2022 Visualisation and imagery can play an important role when learning taijiquan. Poetic names such as Crane Spreads its Wings and Grasp Birds Tail help students recognise the posture and can assist with understanding the martial application when performed. A fundamental that can be difficult for students to grasp is maintaining the space under arms. Holding a balloon or ball under the armpits is often used however, I have been looking for a term that can be visualised easily. I... discovered this picture of a dove protecting it's young and immediately felt it was appropriate. I now look for your input for the name that feels right. eg: "Dove Protects Chicks", Dove Covers with Wings" etc I look forward to hearing your suggestions. See you soon Amanda

10.01.2022 What a wonderful performance of this cane form. Many people are concerned with their age and how it affects their ability to learn and practise Tai Chi. As this lady demonstrates age is no barrier, and in terms of her physical fitness I would say she is more flexible then many people half her age. As to her Tai Chi, she is not simply running through the movements like a dance routine, there is real intent with all her postures. Her student is very lucky indeed, much respec...t Laoshi! see you soon Amanda

02.01.2022 It is recommended that you wear a face mask when you're around people who don't live with you or in public settings when social distancing is difficult. Class sizes are limited to allow correct social distancing and therefore face masks are not mandatory, however, students are embracing the "we are in this together" message looking after themselves and each other while practising Tai Chi to remain active and healthy. See you soon... Amanda A few tips on wearing a reusable cloth mask. Wash or sanitize your hands before and after putting on and taking off your mask. Place your mask over your mouth and nose. Tie it behind your head or use ear loops and make sure it's snug. Don't touch your mask while wearing it. If you accidentally touch your mask, wash or sanitize your hands. If your mask becomes wet or dirty, switch to a clean one. Put the used mask in a sealable bag until you can wash it. Remove the mask by untying it or lifting off the ear loops without touching the front of the mask or your face. Wash your hands immediately after removing your mask. Regularly wash your mask with soap and water by hand or in the washing machine. It's fine to launder it with other clothes.
