25.01.2022 An early photo of Little Park Shellharbour showing a few of the fig trees under which families sheltered in 1842 when Caroline Chisholm brought them to Shellharbour by coastal vessel. The jetty was built in 1859 and the breakwater in 1879 so getting to shore would have been a challenge for them. A little girl ,from one of the families, remembered sleeping under the stars that night with their luggage and furniture all around them. 23.01.2022 Dunmore /Shellharbour railway station and tne Stationmaster's residence was opened in 1887 and because it crossed the Shellharbour Rd. at the Princess Highway the level crossing was the responsibility of the stationmaster (no automatic gates in those days) The station was situated 2 miles from the Shellharbour township people had to find transport to and from the station. The opening of the railway changed many things for Shellharbour and saw the decline of the local shipping industry.
