25.01.2022 Kata Tjuta - created from sedimentary rock called conglomerate. It's a mix of pebbles and boulders cemented together with sand and mud and clearly visible in the cliff walls. -And nit only the famous sifgts which were worth seeing - there were the wild camels, ant hills in various stages of construction and a strange habitation of circular grass of no idea of what animal but still under investigation.

25.01.2022 A lesson from the Wild.

21.01.2022 The mystery of the strange nest is solved! Bull Ants and apparently you don't want to be bitten or stung by them. Considered wasps without wings. Boy, pleased I didn't go poking down that hole! More info https://www.australiangeographic.com.au//australias-nativ/

19.01.2022 Noccundra hotel on the Noccundra Station, for a quick bite. Noccundra - Population 11 - Occupying an area of approximately 8,500 square kilometres (3,282 sq mi...), almost the size as Puerto Rico with an area of 8,959 square kilometres (3,459 sq mi), the property is able to carry 27,000 head of cattle on a good season. The station is currently held by the Consolidated Pastoral Company who had acquired it from the Hughes family in 1990 after they had owned it for 120 years. The townsite of Noccundra was established in 1882 and is located within the station boundaries, the only part that remains being the Noccundra Hotel. The licence for the hotel was first granted in 1886 and the hotel was built using locally quarried sandstone which was brought to the site by camel train. Besides being used for entertainment and accommodation the building serves as a medical and dental clinic for the Royal Flying Doctor Service as required. The building was heritage listed in 1977.

16.01.2022 What a magnificent experience. Charlotte Plains is an oasis in the desert. Literally. Hot Artesian mineral water baths coming from the borehole while sitting i...n a bath in the outdoors of the outback us quite special. Julie made some great friends in the creek and swam, kayaked and played hide n seek all night. Sad to go. Will be back for a few nights soon....

15.01.2022 Good to see cruise lines on the water again

15.01.2022 Sunrise on Uluru. It's difficult to comprehend the size of the mysterious red rock from a picture but with a base circumference of 10.6 km and 863m high, it's pretty large. Got the hiking shoes on - reckon 3.5 hrs is what's needed to complete the walkabout...

13.01.2022 Final night of the big adventure....

13.01.2022 Here's why you'll be breathing more easily on your next Emirates flight

11.01.2022 Muckadilla - I blinked and missed it. Population 58..... Of these, 63.5% were male and 36.5% were female. The median age was 49 years and the average number of... people per household was 2.1. No female linbers here, I can guarantee you In 1889, the Queensland Government drilled a bore at Muckadilla. Although the water supply found was quite small, it was believed that it had healing properties and people flocked to Muckadilla in search of a cure. Dr E.W. Kerr of Brisbane endorsed the water, claiming it had cured "obstinate rheumatism" in some of his patients. The baths were popular and, in 1939, John McEwan Hunter proposed that a sanitorium should be built there to better allow people to improve their "rheumatism, arthritis, uritus, digestion, nerves and general health". Community hall at Muckadilla

10.01.2022 Talwood - friendliest town so far. Had to come in off the road to find fuel. Off to Goondiwindi

09.01.2022 Nindigully - population 9 - Made it to the famous Nindigully Pub. Camping for the night - settling down in the pub now with the locals for dinner. Gonna be a fe...stive night. Despite its population of only nine people, The Gully attracts a regular flow of locals (nearest eight kilometres) and tourists from all over Australia for a cold beer and a chef fresh prepared meal - the kilogram T-bones are legendary or try the new two kilogram plus road train burger (feeds minimum of four people) The Nindigully Pub, built in 1864, is believed to be one of Queensland's longest continually licensed premises. It was a Cobb & Co changing station between the late 19th century and the early 20th century. The 1999 Australian film Paperback Hero starring Hugh Jackman and Claudia Karvan was filmed at Nindigully. The Nindigully Pig Races and Country Music Festival, and fireworks are held annually on the last Saturday in November. It raises money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

09.01.2022 Staying at a bush camp tonight. Nothing around us but Lake Bindegolly and lots of kangaroo carcasses. Not wanting to think about why there are so many carcasses....... Flies flies flies everywhere. Lucky they left at sunset. Set alarm for 3am to see the stars as it’s pitch black out here...

02.01.2022 Words cannot describe the visual and spiritual impact of a sea of 50,000 solar lights spread over 12 acres, cradled in the shadow of Uluru. No pictures or videos can do this unique exhibition justice and it has to be on your list of 50 experiences of a lifetime. And right here in our back garden! How fortunate are we?
