25.01.2022 How's this for a beautiful barn-raising? 3 minutes. Three minutes is all it took for the Bison crew to hoist up the new hanger frame. ... Pretty impressive, isn't it? See more

22.01.2022 Shout out about Harriers, from the good folks at the NW Raptor Care Refuge. If you were to come across a nest accidentally it's probably worth dropping a star picket in the ground (with some fluro tape attached at the top) at the nest so it can be located again but please don't 'hang around' in close proximity to the nest as Harriers can dessert nests easily!

18.01.2022 A chilly and rainy day in paradise today. Sheep are being rotated between paddocks and our house block is one of the thoroughfares :) (and there's always one straggler)

17.01.2022 At The Vale, we are now enjoying "Sheep Energy Bills" The shiny new 100 Kilowatt solar array on the farm is now up and running and (at this time of the year) exporting heaps of power. The associated battery system is still under construction, and coming along well.

15.01.2022 TGIF: Digger arranged this very fine bonfire for us on a gorgeous Friday afternoon

14.01.2022 Daily Digger (and Dasher) Why walk when you can ride? (Waiting for their driver)

13.01.2022 Would you allow R2D2 to be painted onto those beautiful new style handholds? Asking for a friend.

13.01.2022 Spring has sprung in The Vale gardens with a symphony of colour.

12.01.2022 On a perfect-weather Sunday morning, we had the guys from TasNetworks out breaking stuff for us, so we can fix it. This video shows the TasNetworks crew disconnecting the old overhead internal power line from our 500VA transformer. Today we are commissioning the new underground power network that now connects all of our farm buildings. All the private poles and overhead wires inside the property will be cleared away, with the only remaining overhead cable being the span in from the street to this transformer. From there, as of today, we are now running everything else underground. WIth this changeover done, we are also ready, at last, to activate our new 100 kilowatt ground-mounted solar array. We expect that to go live later this week.

11.01.2022 How bright was the moon last night?

10.01.2022 Serenity. Good morning beautiful souls.

09.01.2022 Hello Digger. Got the message... "do not move dog away from nice warm fire"

08.01.2022 Daily Digger! Today Digger is... digging (for possums perhaps... or gold... unclear)

07.01.2022 Our beautiful teenagers. Just look at those eyelashes.

06.01.2022 It seemed like a good time to provide some more progress photos of the ongoing development work at The Vale! The property has been a hive of activity, including the installation of a significant renewable energy system (including a 100 kilowatt solar array) You can see from these photos that construction of the new aircraft hangar, following the roof 'lift' a few weeks ago, is continuing to progress really well. ... We look forward to recommissioning the full length of the airstrip once the surface grass has grown back. With a few more sunny days of late, the grass is starting to leap out of the ground.

04.01.2022 Another TGIF Friday - and another opportunity for Digger to guard a bonfire :)

01.01.2022 This post is for the ‘inner pilots’ among you. (Glider pilots to be specific.) Simon has been experimenting with mountain gliding ‘three ways’ over the past few days, and wrote about it on his personal blog. If you would like to read more about what it’s like to soar above Mt Roland, please follow this link: ... https://simonhackett.com//three-days-soaring-at-the-vale/

01.01.2022 Sheep Renewable Energy :)
