25.01.2022 It is true that too much sun is detrimental to the skin Excessive sun exposure will cause premature skin ageing including telangiectasia (spider veins), especially on the facial skin. Fortunately, though, prominent spider veins on the legs are generally not due to solar damage. They are usually caused by faulty, larger underlying veins either varicose veins or reticular veins and these respond well to sclerotherapy treatment. With advancing age and sun exposure, very fine spider veins on the lower legs may appear and unfortunately don’t respond to sclerotherapy treatment.
25.01.2022 Sometimes people wonder Do I need these veins? when considering a vein treatment. The answer is no. Varicose veins are incompetent veins that are pooling blood instead of pumping it around the body for proper circulation. These veins could potentially pose a risk to your health. Removing them safely improves your blood circulation and allows for the blood to move through functional healthy veins that work properly.
25.01.2022 Its true - the appearance of your hands is a dead giveaway of age and prominent veins and thin skin may make you look older beyond your years. Vein specialists (like ourselves) can reduce the size of those hand veins with sclerotherapy in a simple, painless procedure thats safe.
24.01.2022 Question: Does medical superglue work for treating veins? Dr Davis answer: Medical superglue has been around now as a possible treatment option for a couple of years. Dr Davis opinion on superglue is that it is most appropriate for patients who have symptoms of leg discomfort from underlying venous incompetence (hidden varicose veins) but little to no visible varicose veins.
23.01.2022 Spider Vein treatment! The magic you see here is caused by the veins flushing as the liquid sclerosant is injected. The vein walls are injured during this process. The vein then refills with blood after a few seconds, however, the vein wall has been damaged and the spider vein will sclerose and disappear after a few weeks.
23.01.2022 Did you know we treat breast veins? Unsightly visible breast veins are a common problem, especially after breast augmentation and pregnancy/breastfeeding. These veins respond very well to sclerotherapy, which involves small injections into these veins to make them disappear. This procedure is quick and easy with minimal discomfort and is very effective.
23.01.2022 If youre in need of some motivation to quit smoking, know that not only does smoking increase the risk of varicose veins, but it increases the risk of developing associated complications such as ulcers!
22.01.2022 No. All veins, whether varicose or not, will dilate with increased body temperature. Increased body temperature may happen due to increased surrounding environmental temperature or through exercise and the resultant increase in vein size is only temporary as the body tries to offload the heat. As the body cools, the veins will return to their previous size.

16.01.2022 Spider veins will often first appear during teenage years. Typically, this is on the outside of the upper thigh. An early assessment may be warranted, and occasionally early treatment advisable however, it is important to sensibly assess each case on its merits before embarking on treatment.
16.01.2022 Question: Can I get rid of new veins on my breasts after having breast augmentation? Dr Davis answer: New veins appearing on the breasts after augmentation is very common (up to 80% of cases). Nearly 70% of clients will have some veins remain even after many months. These veins can be safely and effectively treated with sclerotherapy. Talk to us if youd like a consultation.

13.01.2022 ENDOVENOUS LASER ABLATION (ELA) ELA is an effective laser treatment for varicose veins and a great alternative to traditional invasive surgical vein stripping. Endovenous Laser Ablation enables you to achieve the maximum results with minimal discomfort, pain or bruising. Post-operative complications are rare and the success rate of treatment is almost 100%.... The Endovenous Laser Ablation Procedure ELA is performed under local anaesthetic, allowing you to remain awake throughout the procedure, but only feeling minor discomfort. There is no need for hospitalisation and the treatment is generally completed in under one hour. During the procedure, a small laser fibre is inserted into the underlying incompetent vein. The laser is activated as the fibre is withdrawn, causing the vein to thermally ablate and close. The treated vein is then absorbed naturally by the body. After ELA, your leg will be placed into a compression stocking and you will need to walk almost immediately. Routine activity can be resumed that day and athletic or strenuous activities a short time later. Please message us to arrange a consultation.
13.01.2022 Dermatitis This active man in his late 70s wasnt troubled by pain in his legs but his family were concerned by the progressive changes they were seeing in his skin. Varicose Veins had been present for many years. Examination showed extensive secondary skin changes due to advanced venous disease and Ultrasound Investigation revealed a large incompetent great saphenous vein (GSV) underlying the prominent varicose vein over the knee. Dr Davis decided to treat in a staged ...process with Endovenous Laser Ablation (ELA) to the GSV first. The aim of this was to decongest the leg, reduce the swelling and heal some of the ulceration forming on the back of the leg before proceeding with further treatment to the varicose veins and veins underlying the dermatitis with Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy (UGS). The series of photos show his left leg before any treatment and 3 months after ELA but before any UGS. As can be seen, the swelling, ulceration and dermatitis skin changes have improved significantly just by treating the underlying cause - GSV incompetence. Further treatment has since been done with UGS and we are eagerly awaiting the outcomes. We will share them with you soon!
12.01.2022 Do you enjoy going for a walk? Walking is especially good for people who suffer from varicose veins, due to the fact that walking is a very low-impact workout. There is no jarring or pounding of your legs just a simple movement that helps strengthen your calf muscles without straining your body.
12.01.2022 3 2 1 And gone! Or is it? While the leg veins lining becomes irritated and subsequently collapses during sclerotherapy, it does take the body a few weeks to actually reabsorb it. But the results are worth waiting for!
11.01.2022 Before and After This 39 year old received Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy and Standard Sclerotherapy for Varicose Veins and associated spider veins on the right leg. 11.01.2022 One of the ways to prevent varicose veins from getting worse is to lose weight if you are overweight Youre placing more stress on your legs if you are overweight or obese. Losing weight can also keep new varicose veins from forming. Theres a lot of benefits to losing weight other than helping with varicose veins! It also reduces your risk of heart disease, stroke and Type 2 diabetes.

10.01.2022 Needle goes in, veins go away!* We some sclerotherapy magic! Note: The magic you see here is caused by the veins flushing as the liquid sclerosant is injected. The vein walls are injured during this process. The vein then refills with blood after a few seconds, however, the vein wall has been damaged and the spider vein will sclerose and disappear after a few weeks.
10.01.2022 Quite the catch! Dr Paul sticking nicely to his biz colour scheme while on holiday Maybe it could even be classed as a business trip?
10.01.2022 Before and After This 37 year old presented with Varicose Veins on the right knee and lower leg. They sought treatment due to leg discomfort, aching, pain, leg tiredness, restless legs and unsightly veins. Dr Davis used Chemical Surgical Ablation as the method of treatment. Often a combined treatment is a preferred approach. CSA may reduce the pigmentation that often accompanies ultrasound guided sclerotherapy (UGS) alone. The very small incision points will not be visible in another few weeks.

08.01.2022 Generally, no. Varicose Veins are primarily an inherited condition. Dr Davis largest patient demographic is women in their 30s and 40s who have a family history of varicose veins and have had children. The other major cause of worsening varicose veins is ageing.
08.01.2022 Phlebectomy is the physical removal of varicose veins via small incisions. Dr Davis may choose to perform phlebectomy in combination with Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy to improve cosmetic outcome in some situations. After numbing the skin with local anaesthetic, a very small incision (usually not requiring suturing) are made in the skin overlying the varicose vein and the vein is teased out through this incision with a small hook. It is a very neat procedure with excellent outcomes.
