22.01.2022 As an Aussie Pom who has lived in both Australia and England, I feel adequately qualified to comment and rate this business. I am very passionate about my Fish ...and Chip Supper as anyone who knows me will confirm, and grew up eating soggy English cod n chips, avec curry sauce on occasion, for the first 2 decades of my life. I left the UK and have lived Down Under for the last 2 decades, and (thankfully - for my waist line) have never found a chippie that floats my boat. I've scoured WA and NSW, but never found anywhere that can quite supply the perfect fish dinner. Now, I acknowledge that it's all a matter of taste - but MY taste demands SOGGY, not greasy, fresh battered cod. I am known at local chippies for requesting "please don't put in a box! please wrap in paper! don't aireate the paper!" but alas no-one seems to be able to process these requests and they STAB that parcel while I watch, dismayed and disappointed.... again. NO-ONE, that is, until I visited the Village Chippy at Vasse. I was beyond excited at their promise of 'traditonal English fish and chips' but could they truly deliver? The answer was one big huge SHIT YEAH!.... our meals were amazing, perfectly soggy real fresh cut potatoes and COD that took me back to my 20s. We even had a curry sauce which WAS as promised EXACTLY as if it had been transported from my local Brummie chippie. And, unbelievably, 4 x fish and chips with the curry sauce came to less than 50 bucks. Friendly service, didn't wait long, reasonably priced and bloody delicious..... My taste buds are sad you're a 40 minute drive away (but my waist line is thankful)! We will be back before long to try the homemade beef and beer pies!! See more
