08.01.2022 "Argument's Yard, Whitby". 1913. Watercolour by James Allen Shuffrey. 14.5 x 10.5 inches. Shuffrey was one of the first members of the British Watercolour Society. He retired from a career in banking to take up another career as an art teacher and painter in Oxford. While his topographical work is mostly based in Oxfordshire, he also went on many painting tours of the UK. An attractive interpretation of one of Whitby's favourite subjects. In the Edwardian era artists must have been fighting for space in Argument's Yard and Tin Ghaut! Excellent clean and bright condition. Unframed. 75

I thought I'd take this opportunity to publish them here, before they disappear back into private collections again. Enjoy..
