14.01.2022 These little things are arguably one of the most irritating household pests, and although they're not harmful, getting rid pantry moths can be very time-consuming. Otherwise known as Indian meal moths, these critters will set up shop in dry foods like flour, rice and cereals. Signs are subtle but can include webbing in and around packaging, clumping in your food and of course, weevils.... Throw away opened products and empty contaminated containers. Early signs of moths are hard to spot so to avoid re-infestation just throw it out if it's open. Wash containers, tins, jars and bottles in warm soapy water. If you're worried about losing labels, use a water/vinegar solution and wipe down your tins. Thoroughly clean and wipe down your cupboards. Make sure you get into all the cracks and crevices. Don't forget the underside and corners of your shelves. Most of the time pantry moths get into our homes through supermarket food. The best ways to avoid a pantry moth plague would be to wipe down packaging when it comes home and store dry goods in airtight containers. You could also try: Keep bay leaves in or around your dry food. The smell will stop moths from settling. Put your dry goods in the freezer for a couple of days before the pantry to kill off any moth larvae or eggs. #pestcontrol #householdpests
