24.01.2022 Apples are indeed witch's fruit! When you cut across the middle of an apple and expose the seeds you find each seed snug in the point of the pentagram. What is amazing is that each seed (there will be five seeds just like there are five points on a pentagram) will grow into an entirely new variety of apple tree. Isn't it mind blowing to think that every apple's seeds produce an apple tree that is brand new to the world. But if you want a 'Pink Lady' or Granny Smith' you must ...graft some wood from that tree to another apple tree. That is why we graft apple trees. You can graft as many varieties as you wish onto an apple tree. You can turn it into a Fuji or a Johnathan but you will have to find a slip of Fuji or Johnathan wood and graft it to your tree. Or you can grow a seed and wait till your sapling produces its own fruit and see what you get but statistically the apple will be disappointing. Most wild grown apple trees have small fruit that is tasteless and dry but occasionally a wonderful apple like a Pink Lady or a Golden Delicious will appear. See more

16.01.2022 This mornings sunrise through the smoke haze gave the sun pretty red flower petals. While i took this photo Granny the collie x coolie was watching King Parrots arrive for breakfast on the bird feeder just out of camera range. Lets hope today's expected heat wave temperature is not as bad as predicted. Fingers crossed we all get through the day with no dramas.
