24.01.2022 When we are in our ‘Window of Tolerance’ we feel like we can deal with whatever is happening in our life. We may still experience stressors and triggers, but th...ey don’t affect us as much. The window of tolerance is the ideal place to be as it's where growth and change happens. However, during times of extreme stress, we may move outside the window into a hyper-arousal state (also known as the fight/flight response, and often characterised by feelings of anxiety or panic) or a hypo-arousal state (also known as the freeze response causing feelings of emotional numbness or emptiness. This infographic helps to explain what goes on when we’re feeling dysregulated while also providing practices that will help you return to your window of tolerance.

22.01.2022 Today I wanted to talk to you about an organisation that is dear to my heart, The Womens Cottage. Without them and their outstanding knowledge, dedication and c...are, I would not be here today and nor would my two beautiful daughters. 14 years ago I escaped a domestic violent relationship. The Womens Cottage were there to support my decisions to safely leave a very dangerous situation. To others, my methods of safely leaving may have seemed like I wasnt dedicated to leaving at all, but to the workers at the Cottage they understood and supported me and my daughters the whole way. My debt of gratitude to them is immense. With that gratitude in mind, I will soon be launching a line of fundraising products, where 20% of the profits will be donated directly to The Womens Cottage. It is my intention that the percentage being donated will increase in time. I want to see this beautiful organisation have the funding that it needs to help as many women and children to be safe, happy and thrive, just like us. I have designed a logo that will be printed onto t-shirts, hoodies, mugs and drink bottles. I am so excited about this and I hope you will all come along with me on this journey to help other Women and their children to live freely with dignity and peace. If you require any assistance their phone number is (02)4578 4190 or if you would like to donate directly, go to their website www.womenscottage.org.au

18.01.2022 Anyone is susceptible to gaslighting, and it is a common technique of abusers and narcissists. It is done slowly, so the victim doesn't realise how much they've been brainwashed. It can take place in any context, including parent-child relationships.

18.01.2022 Online Sexual Abuse (sometimes also called revenge porn) is one of the fastest growing forms of abuse and closely linked to domestic violence. Call us for support or go straight to ESafety Australia for more information https://www.esafety.gov.au/women/domestic-family-violence

Let us know if you would like our support to do this. Alternatively the feedback study can be found and completed online at www.nationalredress.gov.au/about/second-anniversary-review. 02.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence How did the day come about? On 25 November 1960, sisters Patria, Minerva and Mar...ia Teresa Mirabal, three political activists who actively opposed the cruelty and systematic violence of the Trujillo dictatorship in the Dominican Republic, were clubbed to death and dumped at the bottom of a cliff by Trujillo’s secret police. The Mirabal sisters became symbols of the feminist resistance, and in commemoration of their deaths 25 November was declared International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in Latin America in 1980. This international day was formally recognised by the United Nations in 1999. In June 1991, the Centre for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL), alongside participants of the first Women’s Global Institute on Women, Violence and Human Rights, called for a global campaign of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. The 16 days begins with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (today) and ends with International Human Rights Day on 10 December highlighting that violence against women is a fundamental violation of human rights.
