16.01.2022 Are you having a hug or strangle type of a day? Children experience a range of emotions everyday! These emotions are often reflected onto their parents especially their Mum! A few years ago I took a coaching course on helping people develop their Social & Emotional Intelligence. One of the key things I learned in the course when dealing with children is, to acknowledge their feelings! Children, both big and little want to know their feelings are heard and felt. When a chi...ld’s emotions are acknowledged they feel secure and their confidences builds. Next time your little one is on the verge of a meltdown, talk to them about what they are feeling and reassure them it’s okay to feel sad, frustrated or angry and work with them to understand what triggers these emotions. Before bed talking about the emotions your little one experienced that day, both happy and sad, will help them to learn to express and manage their big emotions. What do your little ones do that makes you want to have a hug?

05.01.2022 BEDROOM CHECKLIST FOR GREAT SLEEP! A calm and safe sleep space equals good sleep! The checklist:... Tranquil & calm - sets the mood! When planning a child’s bedroom keep decorating to a minimum, after all this is where your baby is going to sleep, not play! Comfortable temperature - keep the temperature of the room on the moderate to cool side. When a baby gets too warm when sleeping they wake more frequently to feed. Dark & minimal noise - darkness is a must. During the day if bub hears a bit of noise from the home that is okay as the noise will signal its nap time opposed to bedtime. Breathable clothing and bedding - fabrics such as cotton and bamboo for great for pajamas and bedding. Minimal distractions - remove mobiles and other devices that may become too distracting for sleep for your little one. No bumpers in cot - the use of bumpers is not safe due to reduced airflow around cot and potential to suffocate an infant. Comfortable bed- purchase a safe and comfortable mattress for your little one. Toy Comforter - introducing a toy comforter at 7 months of age is a great way to build security and independence for you baby. What is your favourite tranquil and calm colour for a child’s bedroom? Mine is a light blue or yellow!
