24.01.2022 It is with a very heavy heart that we let you know the white cat we posted earlier was put to sleep Brad Pitt as we called him was taken to Concord Veterinary Hospital where he was examined. His nose was completely consumed with skin cancer. His right eye socket was also consumed with cancer. The cancer was so far gone making both areas completely inoperable ... Both ears also had skin cancer with erosion to parts of the ears. His lungs also sounded horrible. The decision was made on Dr David’s advice to kindly end his suffering humanely This is not a decision we ever take lightly but he was also petrified so pallative care was not an option and he would have been in a tremendous amount of pain. We want to thank Elizabeth for trapping him and not giving up on getting him. She spent over 3 hours last night determined to catch him. Rose who reached out for help for this boy. Stevie for transporting this bubba to our vets. Casa from Kittie Kat Rescue Adoption for offering to take on this boy if he was treatable as we had no room of funds to take him on. And our amazing vet team Concord Veterinary Hospital for always doing the best for each and every cat. Your compassion for rescue is admired. We would be lost without you all. We are not sharing photos of him as his injuries are just horrific and we want to give this poor boy some dignity that he deserves. He is being cremated and will stay with us forever. Instead here is a photo of his beautiful eyes. Sweet dreams beautiful Brad Pitt. I’m so sorry we couldn’t help you but you were so loved. . . . . . #sydneycats #catsofinstagram #adoptme #catstagram #cats_of_instagram #catoftheday #catsofaustralia #kitten #instacat #catsofsydney #catslover #catslife #cutecats #cat #caturday #catsoninstagram #ilovecats #ilovemycat #pawsome #kittensofinstagram #bestmeow #catsofig #thedailykitten #catsoftheworld #catloversclub #sydney #australia #adoptdontshop #rescuecats

20.01.2022 Little V, where oh where do we start. So V had surgery Concord Veterinary Hospital to clear out his impacted colon. He seemed to be doing well after surgery on Wednesday. By Thursday he appeared flat and in pain . Pain relief was administered and he perked up. On Friday his colon was starting to feel impacted again. Our awesome vets started to suspect there is more going on and boy were they right. He presented with: - Short stumpy limbs ... - Wide flat head - Goitre - Chronic constipation - Mental dullness - Just not right This was further supported by lab work which revealed the following: - Mild non-regenerative anaemia - High cholesterol - Low total T4 The diagnosis was confirmed by a low (too low to read) free T4. TSH is still pending but the results are academic at this stage. V has Congenital Hypothyroidism. In simple terms this is a rare disease in kittens where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. This is why he was chronically constipated. The good news is treating his hypothyroidism should cure his constipation. The thyroid gland is responsible for producing thyroid hormone which sets the metabolic rate of every cell in the body. With low thyroid hormone the metabolic rate of every cell slows down. The initial signs are very subtle. So Yesterday V started his first treatment of thyroxine. thyroxine is a thyroid hormone supplementation in pill form which he will require for life. - The first photo is before treatment, The second and third photo were taken a few hours after his first dose. Look how much his eyes have changed. Come on V you got this The prognosis is variable but it is reported in cases like V’s, where it is caught early enough and he is otherwise well and there is no other musculoskeletal symptoms the prognosis should be good. We need to perform a follow up blood test (CBC, chem 15 and in house T4) in 8 weeks 4-6 hours after his morning meds then every 6 12 months. We should know if he is suitable for adoption in the next 2 4 months but one thing is for sure he will need a very special home which we will make sure off. . . . . . #sydneycats #catsofinstagram #adoptme #catstagram #cats_of_instagram #catoftheday #catsofaustralia #kitten #instacat #catsofsydney #catslover #catslife #cutecats #cat #caturday #catsoninstagram #ilovecats #ilovemycat #pawsome #kittensofinstagram #bestmeow #catsofig #thedailykitten #catsoftheworld #catloversclub #sydney #australia #adoptdontshop #rescuecats

19.01.2022 Roof Kittens Update After a horrible month we feel confident to say we have survived parvo Unfortunately as you know we lost little Postman Pat but we feel so fortunate to say that we got the other 4 through it. ... This was an extraordinary effort by the vets at Concord Veterinary Hospital , their vet nurse Alex and foster carer Rachel. Honestly we have no words for you guys. We will never forget the kindness and dedication you all have shown. Once Callie came down with panleukopenia we immediately went into proactive mode. Everyone was vaccinated, started on antibiotics, b12 injections and a course of nuepogen. This helped build up their responses to the virus which allowed for them to be able to fight the disease without even requiring hospitalisation for 2 of them. Dr David and Rebecca even set up a parvo ward for them all in case they all crashed at once. Seriously who’s vets do that for a small rescue like us. Concord Veterinary Hospital that’s who! We are just so thankful that it worked and that these 4 babies have survived. This unfortunately came at a huge financial cost. once we take a cat on we make sure they are given every chance we can possibly give them. Our finances are non existent at the moment combined with this and having every other emergency possible we could face. We are financially But we wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you to everyone who has donated in this past month. Every single one of your donations has helped tremendously to keep us going. Of course it can’t be smooth sailing for these guys as they now have ringworm BUT we will take ringwormies anyday over what they have been through. And a word of caution don’t mess with Leura when there’s chicken around... . . . . . #sydneycats #catsofinstagram #adoptme #catstagram #cats_of_instagram #catoftheday #catsofaustralia #kitten #instacat #catsofsydney #catslover #catslife #cutecats #cat #caturday #catsoninstagram #ilovecats #ilovemycat #pawsome #kittensofinstagram #bestmeow #catsofig #thedailykitten #catsoftheworld #catloversclub #sydney #australia #adoptdontshop #rescuecats
