25.01.2022 Daily life gives me plenty of chances to put my 'money where my mouth is' in terms of self care & grumbles from my body. On the weekend I went on a challenging (punishing?!) 6 hour hike - lots of scrambling up and down very steep, rocky tracks. Totally worth it but my 58 yr old knees weren't as convinced. So, I took a few minutes to gently move the knee, leg & patella (knee cap) into various positions that helped release the pain & tenderness in my knees. Today, they're fine! Quite something as over the years I've had significant knee injuries. Wish I took some better pics but when we stopped for a rest I 100% rested! Ps the walk was from Cowan to Brooklyn, very beautiful - so lucky to have this close to the city. Part of the Great Northern Walk

25.01.2022 NB See comments section for booking link! Been thoroughly enjoying these classes. Plus I'm doing more regular self care movements while putting together class plans. It takes a bit for it to become a default habit. Here's what happened last night. 'My neck feels sore after editing videos for hours....oh I could do the neck and shoulder releases'... And guess what? I wake up feeling free and light in my bod. Who'd have thought?!

23.01.2022 This evenings class will have a bit of everything (well not quite :) ) We'll be addressing shoulder & neck tension, plus a little for hips, back and knees. Also - general unwinding of stress that's stored in the body. Not too late to book!

22.01.2022 Give your shoulders some love! Tomorrow's class (5 30pm AEST) focuses on movements & positions that interrupt overuse patterns and ease shoulder tension & pain. Everybody welcome! :)

21.01.2022 This week the focus is shoulders, neck and jaw along with general de-stressing. Delicious! (If I may say so myself )

21.01.2022 Yikes, I've neglected this page...my session was shifted to 2pm AEDT, October 20 (tomorrow!) If it works time wise I'd love you to join my session tomorrow. I'll be introducing some Ortho-Bionomy principles along with some Ortho-Bionomy self-care. Come move with me! Here's the blurb (oh my gosh, the discipline of distilling big subjects into 65 words! :) Bring a friendly curiosity to your body's signals and preferences while exploring gentle, self-care movements & position...s based on osteopathic principles, yoga therapy & qigong. Our bodies go in & out of balance naturally. We possess an enormous capacity to heal but sometimes our bodies require support switching to places of ease, increased functionality, vitality. Relieve pain, reduce tension. And help the nervous system settle & 'rewire'. My session is 2pm, October 20, in the Movement & Anatomy Channel Registering for the Conference is free for live sessions & recordings (free for the following 48 hours) Maybe see you there! https://theembodimentconference.org/#FionaMunro

19.01.2022 Come play! Thursday October 15, 5pm. So pleased to be a part of this. Register your good selves at https://theembodimentconference.org/#FionaMunro

13.01.2022 When there's shoulder pain/injuries/tension initiating movement from the hands or arm allows the shoulders to move in a passive way. This helps interrupt overuse patterns in the shoulders "When the muscles learn to organise differently ..., new options arise, and tense and painful patterns are interpreted" Luan Overmyer, Ortho-Bionomy A Path to Self-Care. p152 We'll be doing a lot of this tonight. If there's someone you know with tense shoulders, frozen shoulder etc pleas...e let them know about these classes. They're massively good value! Booking link in comment section.

09.01.2022 A few people have mentioned Bursitis to me in the past few days which prompted me to mention how I work with Bursitis (inflammation of the Bursae - fluid sacs that stop surfaces e.g bone from rubbing against each other) Check out this lil 1 minute vid for a little about my approach :)

06.01.2022 Rafe Kelley talks about exercising outdoors and moving in ways so that forces happen through the tissues from a variety of angles. It makes a ton of sense. Try it! A little scrambling over the rope thingo in a kids playground, walking barefoot on uneven surfaces, jumping lightly across some big smooth rocks on a coastal walk (for those lucky enough to do so) I'll add a link in a minute to Rafes webinars. Really worth catching! But if you wanna do a search check out parkour training

03.01.2022 Hi all, this glorious embodiment conference is about to kick off! The organisers need to fill a few gaps in the Oz time zone. They're putting out a call out for a few more volunteer Tech Hosts - in exchange, folk get free, life time access to the library. On the off chance you know someone who'd be interested could you pass this onto them? There's lots of training and support available - the conf will be run on zoom. ... https://theembodimentconference.org/ See more
