21.01.2022 Taste testing the liquid gold that is #saffron from @herbalextractsco Recent studies (including an Australian one on on anxiety and depression in teenagers) shows Saffron is effective at reducing anxiety and improving mood, and unlike St. John wort it doesn’t interact with medications.

06.01.2022 Drying #calendula from @balgowlahcommunitygarden to make an infused oil for balms etc. Calendula is almost magical in how healing it is to the skin and is always a welcome addition to balms, ointments and creams. When picking it you get the resinous healing compounds on your hands with the distinctive calendula smell. Renae from @nourishandbreathe reminded me in a recent discussion that’s why a good dried calendula will be the whole flower head not just the pretty brightly coloured petals, most of the healing compounds are in the calyx.
