25.01.2022 **Update on Resumption of Operations at DKHAC** We know you’re eager to get back into your regular routines and that may include visiting the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre. We welcome the Premier’s advice around the staged relaxing of restrictions but, sadly, we are not yet in a position to be able to announce a reopening date for the DKHAC.... We will continue to take advice from the state government as they announce further steps towards recovery and establish more of the specific guidelines for reopening a large, multi-faceted facility such as ours. As we get closer, we will assess the risks, compliance requirements, and our capacity to safely deliver our offerings within the relevant restrictions. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we look forward to bringing you further information when there is some more certainty around the next steps. Regards, The DKHAC Team

23.01.2022 Congratulations to one of our lifeguard's Rhys, who was recently awarded the Youth Surf Lifesaver of the Year for 2019-20. What a fantastic award - we are very proud to have Rhys and his skills on our team.

22.01.2022 The latest advice from the PM has tightened up restrictions quite a lot, and we want to make sure everyone is looking after themselves and to share a few pics of what we have been up to. This is a tough time for all of us, which makes taking care of yourself even more important. Remember, we're still allowed to go out to exercise as long as we're not with more than one other person. We have been able to get a few essential jobs done at the centre, but things are slowing down... now as we move most of our staff off-site for their own health safety. Some of those big jobs that we had hoped to get stuck into will have to wait until it's safe to come back. Adapting to changed circumstances can be really hard, but it's vital. We hope you're getting some inspiration from our videos and online workouts. Please, let us know what's working for you. It's been quiet here at the centre without our lovely members. Please take care of yourselves and each other. We miss you all.

18.01.2022 School holidays will look a little bit different in the Centre this October, due to current COVID-19 restrictions and upgrade projects. Our 50m and Dive pool will continue to be used for lap swimming, as per our Lane Etiquette which can be found on our Timetables page. As you would’ve seen in our post from yesterday, our 25m & leisure pools are closed for refurbishment so there’s still no access to these areas. This means our School Holiday Splash Program won’t be running. We... are also restricted in what we can offer due to the COVID-19 limitations, which unfortunately means we can’t offer access to any aquatic play activities in the Centre during these school holidays. We are looking forward to getting all facilities back up and running towards the end of the year, subject to the COVID-19 restrictions at the time. Keep an eye on our website to stay informed.

13.01.2022 We are excited to announce the refurbished Leisure pool is now open! The area includes the Kids Water Play zone which features water jets, slide and a tipping bucket! And the much loved purple slide is back in action! Please be aware due to COVID, capacity restrictions are in place, just 500 people can use the pool areas at a time. 06.01.2022 **COVID-19 Centre Update** We realise there are a lot of questions and interest regarding the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre following the release of the roadmap to recovery action plan, however at this time the Centre will remain closed until further notice. The stage one State Government restrictions do not allow the Council to viably open or operate such a large and multi-faceted Centre.... The current roadmap provides a general framework for public pools to reopen from Monday 18 May, however we are required to consider a financially responsible and appropriate response to the reopening of DKHAC and will need to wait until further restrictions are relaxed. The Centre is continuing to make improvements and prepare, with the aim to have the doors open again as soon as practical.

04.01.2022 From Monday 24 August our 50m pool will go back to 50m mode and our showers will re-open. 04.01.2022 We will be open 8am to 4pm on Thursday 22 October for the Show Day public holiday. We have lap lanes only available in the 50m pool and a reduced number of group fitness classes. 03.01.2022 We are very close to the end of the Leisure Pool refurbishment project and introduction of the exciting new Water Play zone. The contractors are working on the final stage of the project, once the compliance and safety approvals are received it will be ready for use! We really can’t wait for the Leisure Pool and new Water Play zone to open in January, we will let you know a date very soon.
