13.01.2022 Hi there! I'm Nat, founder of @the.humble.wellbeing.project as well as a wife, mumma to a 3-year-old schnoodle, a cancer survivor, visual designer and most recently a counselling student. My journey to create The Humble Wellbeing Project began many years ago, first as a passing thought in a hospital bed, then to a recurring topic of conversation with friends and family, to today's reality . It all began at age 15 when I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer... known as Biphenotypic Leukemia. My life was turned upside down in a matter of minutes. I went from a bustling classroom with friends to a clinical hospital room at the old Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne with a small window onlooking a brick wall. This became my new home for several months and life as I knew it had changed. My new reality revolved around chemotherapy, sleep and any activity I felt up to doing within the confines of my hospital room or ward. Going through this experience was extremely difficult and isolating. What I distinctly remember was the joy that visitors or gifts from my teachers, family or friends brought me. It was in those moments I felt a little less alone and gave me hope to keep going. Thankfully I am now cancer free , but have faced many secondary side effects such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as well as long term damage to parts of my body. I realised the value of having the right support network after, is just as important as when you are going through it. I wanted to create a business that enabled family, friends, teachers, colleagues and classmates to show their loved ones they aren’t alone and provide a platform for people going through similar experiences to connect and support one another in a safe and understanding environment. If you're still reading, thank you, thank you for taking the time to embark on the beginning of The Humble Wellbeing Project with me!
