From the first email from a synchronistic Phyl Lobl asking us if we would be willing to record this powerful piece, through to the final realisation now available on DVD through our Dingo’s Breakfast website. The background story, from meetings with Phyl, the initial recordings at Lindsay Martin’s Laundry Studio, the multiple reworkings t...he gathering together of the generous musos who all toiled to make this video. In the mid 1960's Phyl Lobl wrote these poignant lyrics to a pipe tune by Pipe-Major William Laurie, who fought in the Battle of The Somme and then was repatriated to England where he died. This evocative video is a wonderful collaborative project between Phyl Lobl, Dingo's Breakfast, Lindsay Martin and a host of others generous and talented souls. Phyl's father was underage when he enlisted, tho he was 18 by the time he went to the Somme, & one of the images is a very young soldier looking at the photographer.

Dog's 30th Birthday Concert @ Leichhardt Bowlo! Sat 24th October 7.30 for 8pm start Piper St Annandale, ramp entrance in Piper St, parking underground from Charlotte St (no lift) or in Piper St. $20 for everyone, sorry we won't be offering our usual $2 discount (just too hard in these days!) [email protected] 60 mins from Carol Garland, & her son Adrian Hill with 2 supports - Christina Mimmocchi & Miguel Heatwole Leichhardt Bowling Club has a COVID-Safe plan and is registered with the NSW government as a COVID-Safe business. It is following all the requirements related to that, regarding social distancing, all people being seated, no dancing, hand hygiene (sanitiser stations, electronic or single use menus), electronic or manual recording of all attendees, etc. The club is set up with small tables (socially distanced, of course), has a bar, & a great bistro (the mushroom burger is my favourite) so do consider having dinner. Non-members also need to sign in using the old fashioned book with those little tear-out pages that you carry around.
