25.01.2022 After watching and following all the updates today about the Vic and NSW fires, I had to repost this from @sandrodemaio who summed up my feelings but more awesomely, has solutions to this tragedy were all watching from afar. Lets all do our little bit to help those struggling #donate #helpamate If, like me, youre watching with a sense of devastation for the families and communities who have lost everything in the fires these last days here are some practical things ...we can all do to help 1 Consider donating to the @redcrossau or a local fundraising effort, including the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund (GERF.org.au) 2 Support @foodbankvictoria as they provide food to those in need 3 Donate blood or plasma with @lifebloodau, both essential to treat burns and assist survivors of the bushfires 4 If youre in a nearby community, offer a bed, a meal or some support to families and individuals affected, 5 Be informed, head to @abcnews_au and @emergencymanagementvic to know whats going on. 24.01.2022 TNC NEWS Well, its probably about time I let the cat out of the bag and announce Im on my way to becoming a mamma myself! 30 weeks in and who thought wed be in the middle of a once in a lifetime pandemic? TBH - Ive had a really smooth and healthy journey so far and its been wonderful; Ive tried to focus on all those strange and lovely moments of growing a human as opposed to the external things I cant change. ... Its also been so important to have a supportive network around me - family, friends, my healthcare provider and Im so blessed to work in the field of women supporting women; I feel confident and (almost!) ready! In terms of @the.nutrition.circle its business as usual via telehealth appointments (more on those soon!) until end of September and then an amazing crew of FAB dietitians like @emma.fielding_dietitian will have all your nutrition needs covered until Im back on deck. Last night I went to listen to @theresilienceproject and founder Hugh van Cuylenberg speak about this profound, and very urgent matter of improving our mental wellbeing. He talked of his experience, research, study and statistics of just how lonely and isolated we are today and the impact of devices on anxiety and depression, particularly in children & young people. . He talked about GEM: gratitude, empathy (which precipitates into kindness) and mindful...ness. . Practicing these three things in small moments each day helps you become more resilient to face AND get through challenging or crisis times in life. You cant stop these times but you can help reduce the impact of them if you can understand GEM . 16.01.2022 DINNER TONIGHT >> simple as... in 20 mins flat! . . Panko Parmesan chicken & Roast Veg side .... The beauty of it- it all goes in the oven . HOW: 1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees 2. Dice beetroot, sweet pot, zucchini into cubes. Toss in EVOO, S&P and lay on a tray. Bake for 20 mins. 3. Chicken thighs - bash between baking paper with a rolling pin then lay flat on another baking tray. 4. In a bowl, mix enough panko breadcrumbs with a good handful of grated Parmesan. 5. Coat the chicken fillets with some Dijon mustard and then sprinkle the crumb on top. Pat so they stick. 6. Bake chicken for 15 mins or until cooked. 7. Remove veggies from oven, and toss through baby spinach leaves. 15.01.2022 LEVERAGING LEFTOVERS >> . Got a bit of this and a bit of that in the fridge? Throwing food away is a pet hate of ours (plus food waste is one of the main contributors to climate change). . So what to do?... . Make mini savoury muffins! . You dont necessarily need to use pastry (or a slice of bread with no crusts works fine too), but steam or lightly fry any chopped veg, add any type of cheese (we had ricotta leftover, but grated tasty or feta is equally as good!) and place into muffin moulds. . Beat a few eggs and milk, season with S&P and fill each muffin hole. . Bake for 15 mins or until egg mixture is firm. Allow to cool and store in the fridge. . 07.01.2022 Were going on a limb here - but were ANTI FOOD DELIVERY APPS. We have pondered about this deeply and this article sums up beautifully our thoughts too. With the rise of accessibility to restaurant prepared foods, these are changing the WAY we consume, enjoy and eat food. And not for the better. The fact is, food delivery apps are here - and they will become more and more prevalent. But think about the impact youre contributing to that far wider than your nutritional inta...ke. Food is more than just what you eat; its the process and method of preparing, the sensory sensations of working with food, the social aspect of enjoying this process alone or with others, the sense of achievement of your creation. Not to mention - cafes and restaurants are looking emptier (but more and more people in helmets seem to hang out in them?!?!), delivery persons arent getting paid what they should and we no longer seem to want to be in or contribute to our community. Whats that about? We think its becoming a sad state of affairs, and its not that were against take away or meal delivery. Just pick up the phone and call your pizza guy instead. Have a conversation with them. Go down and see where your pizza is made. Show them with a smile and a thank you that you appreciate their hard work and effort to make you a pizza at a time you cant be bothered to do it yourself.

06.01.2022 IT’S A GIRL I’d like to welcome little Mavis, who arrived last Friday 23 October at 10:50am. Took her own sweet time but was born happy and healthy and is already feeding like a champion! We are both doing well at home and enjoying lots of snuggles and cuddles. ... I’d like to shout out to the amazing supports I used during pregnancy and labour that got me through and I’m forever grateful because despite things not being as smooth as I would have liked, I have no regrets and am totally empowered by becoming a mum. Thanks to: @pregactive for the online program that kept me moving and zen for the whole 41 weeks! @themindfulbirthmovement Hypnobirthing course by Rebecca who taught me to stay calm throughout the labour and be informed about all the decisions we made @mamaanditens wow did I give that Tens machine a workout! But it saved me in those early days of labour and highly recommend it for everyone! And lastly to the incredible team at @easternhealthau midwives - particularly the MGP who just go above and beyond.
