23.01.2022 The 86 pays respect to the brave, innocent, young and older diggers this ANZAC Day. Often they were driven into the gravest of situations such as when they were forced to swim to shore with their supplies on their backs of the now ANZAC Cove, but then it was heavily manned with a strong Turkish military guarding the coastline of Gallipoli. So many lives lost just getting out of the water. Today, we remember the faces, names and lives lost not only in this battle of WW1 but all devastating wars, often our brave, courageous soldiers placed their lives on the line to protect those who were not able to protect themselves. Soldiers fallen or returned we remember and honour you and your families.

23.01.2022 After 5 months of not being able to trade at @the86bar and missing so many of our locals weve been busy converting our front store room into our brand new Pop Up' Covid cafe and now present you the 'Jam Tram'. We tested all the equipment and the process yesterday making sure everything worked as it should and were all working in the most safe ways possible whilst preparing and cooking up Hot Jam Donuts and freshly brewed Gravity Espresso. Thanks to all the lovely compliments and support yesterday. Just felt good Ill tell you. We will be back open again from Wednesday this week through Saturday. We hope to serve you up some joy in these times. And yes, Ive made the crew wear paper hats for fun. We need fun. Fun and donuts that is.

This years festival is this weekend and ends tomorrow Sun 19. Perhaps its somewhat fitting that our silver-screen event has given us somewhat of a silver-lining in this lockdown and we can watch all we want from the remarkable program of the MQFF 2020-online-in a bean bag-in your fave winter warmies-and toastiez. 'We could not simply have the doors of the venue wide open and unknowingly expose our staff, performers and public guests to the invisible killing virus that is now increasing in size and spread over the City of Melbourne. We hope that within 2-3 weeks we are able to curtail the trend and w...e maintain a steady incline of infected persons with the aim of flattening the line of hospital admissions so that our health professionals are in better positions to serve the gravely ill readily and capably. 03.01.2022 5 years ago tonight, The 86 launched a new monthly bingo night hosted by 2 of our favourite scene queerers Kyle Minall & Thomas Jaspers. They had done a one nighter fundraiser a few months prior of 'Bingo with Balls' and it was so hilarious we hoped we could talk them in to reprising the act. And they did, and Granny Bingo was born.
