24.01.2022 LEST WE FORGET When all of this is over, can we please remember that it is possible to pull out ALL STOPS, on a GLOBAL level (even cancelling the Olympic Games) to counter a serious threat to people’s health and lives. Please remember that we ARE capable of taking drastic action, even when risk to an individual may be low, to work together for the good of the whole.... And before all of this is over, let’s make time to ask, why have we NOT pulled out ALL STOPS, to end serious threats to our health and lives, previously? In Australia alone: One woman a week is murdered by her current or former partner. How much hate and disrespect have we tolerated in our society for this to happen? In one year alone (2016), diabetes killed 4,770 people. ( ABS stats) Diabetes also threatens to overwhelm our health system. Specialist factories will need to be built to perform amputations, health professionals say. Why have we tolerated the unhealthy food supplies and lifestyles that are key drivers of these deaths? In order to contain the Coronavirus we are fundamentally changing the way we live and work. Are we willing to fundamentally change the way we live afterwards to counter the deadly threats that already exist in our lives and in our culture? Or will we just go back to life as ‘normal’ forgetting all that is crying out for healthy change. Please, when all of this is over, let’s not go back to sleep. 12.01.2022 Help! Working from home with kids. That's the name of this interview series I've created where parents share with other parents simple, practical ideas for dealing with the triple load of parenting, supervising school and trying to work as well, all under the same roof. I learnt some great ideas and perspectives in the process - they are only 10 minutes each to quick and easy to digest. Oh - and I'd love to interview a family/parent who has children with a learning or behavioural challenge so I can include their experience also.. so if that's you do get in touch. Enjoy! www.thea.com.au/workingfromhome

10.01.2022 Women's Health week is coming up in September. Consider training your managers in menopause. Why? In the past 40 years, workforce participation of women aged 55 to 64 years has risen from around 20% to 60%. Given this substantial increase, it only makes sense for employers to think about how they can support and retain experienced women as they transition through this natural stage in the lifecycle. During this time, three in four women will experience symptoms, which can aff...ect engagement at work, and one in four will be seriously affected. A supportive workplace can make all the difference. Menopause@Work: online training program for managers is a blended E-learning program that equips workplace managers and supervisors with the knowledge, confidence and tools to support female employees through the menopausal transition, should women wish this, in order to help women maintain their health and remain successful in their roles. REGISTER BEFORE AUGUST 1 st to take advantage of the Early Bird Discount https://www.thea.com.au/menopause/manager-training/

10.01.2022 Do you think it’s time to address menopause in your workplace, but you aren’t sure how to protect women’s privacy, and avoid feeding gendered ageism, in the process? Do you already know that becoming menopause-friendly will strengthen your gender equality and inclusion ethos, and you just want to get started? It's World Menopause Day today and I'd love to share with you the details of my pilot online training for managers on menopause. Limited numbers, discounted price Registrations Close DEC 13th. Message me for more details. This training is relevant to mental health, diversity and inclusion, gender equity, female leadership. Midlife women make up a significant, growing and important part of the Australian workforce and anything that helps retain and engage them is a wise investment.

04.01.2022 Check out my brief segment on The Project (NZ) talking about napping during COVID as we return to work ... https://vimeo.com/488379030 Password: viewing

04.01.2022 A silver lining of COVID has been that with so many more people working from home, taking a powernap during the working day, is now way more possible. I enjoyed talking to Kristen about becoming a Naptivist and how to take safe and effective naps.

04.01.2022 I'm really enjoying facilitating my online training on menopause for workplace managers - and I was glad to see in the midpoint review, the participants are too!

03.01.2022 Beyondblue says that 'exhaustion' is in the top 3 reasons why people are calling their helpline since COVID19. So... it's time to learn how to nap! Working from home removes many barriers to the work-a-day nap. Timing is everything though, so here's a guide to help prevent, or allow for, sleep inertia.... IF you'd like a copy of this infographic send me your email.
