24.01.2022 Domestic violence service providers across Australia have misled the public about the facts relating to who are the victims of domestic violence in our communities. They have also actively worked to block any research that would expose the truth about male domestic violence victims. This is a couple of paragraphs from the ABF parliamentary submission that are worth a look. ... Thea Brown has also had difficulties researching domestic violence. Brown has been a professor of social work at Monash University for more than 25 years and is finishing off a major study into parents who kill their children. And so, when she started a research project in 2012 into domestic violence and whether men’s behaviour change programs actually changed men’s violent behaviour, she was astonished at the harassment she says she received. https://www.theguardian.com//australians-are-being-told-th Brown told Victoria’s royal commission into family violence last year that she had never experienced anything like it in all her years of research. She says the feminist framing of domestic violence among some groups is so strong they are nervous about academic research in case their approach is shown to be flawed. 21.01.2022 New domestic violence laws being proposed in NSW are an example of how family and domestic violence policy has been highjacked by women’s groups who are suggesting that only women can be victims of controlling behaviours. It beggars belief that any member of parliament could in good faith accept that coercion and control in a relationship is something that only happens to women. One only needs to look at the number of families who are experiencing ongoing family violence ena...bled by the child support system and the family courts to realise that coercive and controlling behaviour has more to do with emotional and mental health problems rather than gender. Here's a story from SBS Australia "Nearly 150 complaints have been lodged with the Victorian ombudsman from residents of Melbourne’s public housing towers, with many reporting ongoing distress after last month’s hard lockdown to contain spread of COVID-19.... Paramedics and COVID testing staff remain onsite at the commission flats in north Melbourne, a month after Victoria’s public housing towers became the epicentre of the state’s pandemic. Achol Aluier contracted the virus in the first wave, but with seven people living in her three bedroom flat, there was no way to contain the spread. If someone got coronavirus, we just can’t isolate. Everyone uses everything, the house is too small ... that’s why we got it all of us. Ms Aluier came to Australia from South Sudan in 2003. She’s lived in the public housing towers for 13 years and now shares her home with her five children aged from seven to 19 and her aunt. Her family has been on the list for a bigger house for 11 years, but she says the lock down and Stage Four restrictions has made her desperate to get out. They told us you have to wait 10 years to get a house and we’ve been waiting more than that but we still haven’t got any housing. Another mother in the housing commission building, Mary Ajueth, has also been waiting for over a decade for bigger public housing. She arrived in Australia from South Sudan in 2008. The only bottle with a Made in Australia logo on it from Careline (also the most expensive in its size) suspiciously had a larger bottle without the kangaroo logo that is clearly marked Made in China! While the nation continues to grapple with the social and economic fallout of the Chinese virus, it appears its business as usual for our big retailers who are happy to ignore local manufacturers and stock the Chinese product.
