25.01.2022 With the world in social-distancing mode, I find myself looking around my home and evaluating my environment, thinking of things to do, and planning future goals. I am reminded of a concept I learned when I did my Cert III in Business in 2003: Edward de Bono's 'Six Hats' thinking. Have you heard of it? Do you use it? If so, what for? How might it help you in these times of COVID-19 shutdown? Please, everyone, stay safe; remember that self-isolating saves not only your own health, but also the health of others for whom this virus could be deadly.

17.01.2022 Some of us love the semicolon; some of us don’t. Which side of the fence do you sit on? Is there a particular reason why? https://cmosshoptalk.com/2020/01/22/semicolons-in-fiction/

10.01.2022 I received this blog post via email today. Even if it’s not an exhaustive list, it helps to give alternatives to some common, but possibly less sensitive figures of speech. Some I would add more ‘identity-neutral’ than gender-neutral (preferential phrase first): ‘wheelchair user’>’confined to a wheelchair’... ‘That’s ridiculous’>‘that’s gay’ What sort of phrases do you hear that you feel could have better alternatives? https://cybertext.wordpress.com///30/gender-neutral-terms/

09.01.2022 If you’re like me, you may have marvelled a bit at how quickly COVID-speak has become part of our lexicon, and how long it might stick around. Let’s hope the words of COVID are the only things left of it in the near future!

06.01.2022 Hi everyone, With the onset/onslaught of Coronavirus, I wanted to offer a couple of things. Firstly, as a disability pensioner, I wanted to offer a suggestion for those who find themselves on limited incomes due to work shutdowns, etc. It is a shock to suddenly find yourself on a changed income and a concession card, but you may be able to save yourself some money through state government, federal government, and/or local council utility and rate concession schemes. Find out ...about your relevant sites and search them for concessions that you may be able to apply for. Second, if any of you, my followers, have found yourselves with reduced/no work hours, I would like to offer my assistance for free to look at your resume and/or cover letter. I can help with editing (obviously), formatting, design, and several other aspects. Please send me an inbox if the current job losses have affected you. I hope everyone is staying safe and well in these trying times. Thinking of you. Bridgett
