25.01.2022 The effort and painstaking miles we put in to hunt our own food is not something we ever said was easy. And it shouldn’t ever be. Part of what makes us hunters and humans is our desire to push the limits of our own mind and bodies stacked with our innate desire for adventure and the wilderness. The reason we don’t want it easy is because every life is worth something. It’s worth the training, the countless days spent walking through creeks, climbing rocks, late nights, early mornings and weekends away from the family. If we are willing to take, we need to be willing to sacrifice. @lowaaunz

25.01.2022 One dry group of New Hunters... One wet group. Regardless of weather - there is mountains to be climbed and meat to be got! Thanks again for everyone that came through this year, from all the people who stuck by us during Covid when we had to cancel plans, to the guys who did their level 1 and came back to do the level 2. From Eamon & Andrew and the rest of our team we sincerely thank you for some amazing memories. We will be back running courses again from March 2021. Plenty of things in store for us between then and now. Keep an eye out!

25.01.2022 These past few weeks have been mighty wet! Creek crossing have definitely been hard to avoid! @lowaaunz

25.01.2022 It’s that time of the week when we are already looking towards the weekend. Damn we love it! @hunterselement

23.01.2022 @missarahglover - Landing her first ever Fallow Deer, followed by carrying the whole animal out on her back. So proud of Sarah’ determination to get every part of the deer off the hill. The recipes she created from this meat were absolutely incredible. For us guys at Alpha Human - we are so lucky to have people like Sarah and the other inspirational people we’ve had through, share pieces of their lives with us, while we share what we do with them. Always so much to learn for both parties. This is what Hunting is all about.

23.01.2022 @mitchlydo Flaming up some riverside fish for @wildfire.au #WhatToDoWhenNotHunting

23.01.2022 Beautiful Post Rut Buck (after mating season), with our friend @cameronrhanes This deer was taken after a 33km day walking up and down hills (No camera man should have to follow Cam around ) - but safe to say the mental fortitude and determination to chase these wild animals made the end result that much more rewarding. #KeepHammering

22.01.2022 At the time your legs feel like jelly and each an every step feels like slabs of concrete are holding your feet to the dirt. But reflecting back on that misery, the drive to face that climb again always outweighs the grit it took to get through it that last time. @lowaaunz #lowaboots

22.01.2022 Another beautiful fallow skin coming off before we handle all the meat. Damn these things are beautiful @civilware

21.01.2022 Fresh Mountain Air! Damn I love this time of year.

21.01.2022 Almost game time! Another weekend ahead of (lightly) stomping around the hills on our Hunting For Beginners course. This will be our second last one for the year. Limited spaces available for our October course - if you’re interested, hit us up!

21.01.2022 Last light and a beautiful Fallow Buck that slipped into the darkness. Until next time sir. @mavenbuilt

21.01.2022 @nicholaspearce Who completed our Hunting For Beginners course last year was back in the saddle this past weekend, and was able to take his first ever Fallow Buck. He was first on the board for the weekend which lifted spirits throughout camp. It’s hugely rewarding for for us to see the progression from Nick, and put everything he has learned into action and then be rewarded with some incredible wild meat. #HunterEducation

20.01.2022 An early morning walk to get above the layers of mist. You always have to adapt your approach pending on the weather, mornings like these where visibility is limited... sometimes your only choice is to get above it, rather than waiting it out. @scott.thomas.media

19.01.2022 Davo & Wayno making the most of that morning sun as we traversed our way up the mountain last weekend on our Level 1 Course. This is Hunting.

19.01.2022 Back when the new boots still had that new boot smell... @lowaaunz

17.01.2022 Mid week getaways under the stars sure beat sitting on the couch.

17.01.2022 Head over to our friends @recipearce to see Nick & Sophie’ version of the NcMuffin. (Recipe is in their story highlights).Nick who is one of our brilliant Chefs, whipped these up for the crew from Venison Sausage taken straight from the Hills behind the cabin. I think these will be a new addition to the staple breakfast.

17.01.2022 There’s many a ways to take a deer out of the mountains... but working together with your fellow hunters is a great way to bring the team closer together. We are all here to help and support each other in the process of taking that animal’s life. You can guarantee each one of these guys will remember this day when eating the meals prepared from this Fallow Deer. When was the last time you had that same type of connection to the food you ate? @mavenbuilt

17.01.2022 Our mate @adamcoopy on top of the world. Nothing better than hiking your ass off up a steep hill to be rewarded with a beautiful view and sunset! #ThisIsHunting

16.01.2022 Sometimes you just gotta get wet and cold. We wouldn’t have it any other way. @cameronrhanes

16.01.2022 Davo & Wayno - traversing their way up the mountains under the morning sun last weekend, on our Level 1 course. This is Hunting. @lowaaunz

14.01.2022 The Paradox of Sustenance: For and organisms life to be continued; another organisms life has to be discontinued. This past weekend we were lucky enough to have another incredible group of humans who were able to take part in the whole process of paddock to plate. Each one of them was able to take home wild organic meat to share with their families and friends, knowing that it’s passed through their hands only. #HunterEducationCourse

13.01.2022 Who’s Hungry? @traegergrillsoz @traegergrills

13.01.2022 It’s amazing how a group of mostly strangers can be brought together, over something that we have mostly lost touch of in the journey of humankind. Hunting is one of those things that can be a touchy subject amongst your friends. But the fact of it is; we wouldn’t be who we are without Hunting. We love meeting like minded folk who want to have that ultimate connection to the wilderness. There’s an innate feeling of normality once you strip back the politics of Hunting for your food. If you eat meat, I think there’s something to be said for connecting the dots of its process path, and being the person who controlled that process. As visceral as that might be - I truly believe you will have more respect for the food on your plate than you ever had.

12.01.2022 These @mavenbuilt 9x45 Binos have been absolutely punished in the bush. From belly crawls, to pouring rain and the dusty drought ridden landscapes we have been accustomed over the past few years. Still as good as the day I got them. @outdoorsportsau

11.01.2022 A place where talking takes preference over socials. (Except when you need to take a photo of it)

11.01.2022 Solo setup from last weekend. First time using the @bushbuckoutdoors Solo 8000 1p tent, which was nice and easy to setup and pack down. Now getting into summer I would probably ditch the inner fly netting and run just the outside cover (which you see here). That will help Cut down on a fair bit of weight allowing me to chuck a few more other essentials into the pack.

11.01.2022 Even if your Taco Truck is a VW Amarok, it’s always better making your own! @skeletonoptics_nz @wildfire.au

10.01.2022 Our @traegergrillsoz aren’t just for smoking large cuts of meat on our courses... they’re also perfect for venison huevos rancheros #SmokedBreakfast #FartFodder #TurboCharged #BRB #PhotoFinish #Worthit @ Hunter Valley

09.01.2022 Venison Tacos by our legendary friend @missarahglover What an amazing process where this wild Venison was taken from the hills less than 24hrs prior. The meat was left to hang in the cool mountain air overnight, and was as tender as any cut I’ve had. Tag a friend who you think might like to eat one of these? @wildfire.au

09.01.2022 @bennywithers instructing the troops... Probably convincing them to hike up another hill when motivation is running a bit low. - Vista Cap in Desolve Fire Ca...mo - @eamon.waddington from @the.alpha.human . . . #ExploreFurther #HuntLonger #HuntersElement See more

09.01.2022 Where all good mornings start. #TheAlphaHuman #ThisisHunting

09.01.2022 @dionbt On our Level 1 Course a few weeks back, preparing this fallow buck for the carry out. There are many ways to take the meat off the mountain, however - this day we opted for a more primitive way that involves everyone working together.

08.01.2022 Such a great weekend away with @missarahglover , the @the.alpha.human crew and all of our incredible guests. We genuinely enjoy meeting like minded people with a calling for the wilderness and all it has to offer. Thank you for all the support, comments and emails. A few more weeks and we will be out in those mountains again meeting another group of legends.

07.01.2022 @shanedorian Glassing up a few Deer Down Under many moons ago. @mavenbuilt

07.01.2022 The killing of an animal for food is always clouded with ambivalence. But with humans’ carnivorous heritage, at what point did the disconnect between Hunting become a prevalent morality to the general public? Take this photo for example; Four new hunters, who until this point had never had hands on a fallen deer. Yet, strip the modern clothing and attire, this was a scene so close to our instinctual past that each and every one of them described this as feeling natural. For me, sitting back (taking the photo) with the warm morning sun on my face, made me proud to see 4 new hunters take pride and respect towards the importance of an animals life. I’m sure once they got back home to their families and friends, that each meal cooked from this deer took them back to this moment, now frozen in time with an image. #EatWhatYouHunt

07.01.2022 Fine set of sun blockers ya got there! @skeletonoptics_nz @skeletonoptics

07.01.2022 Our buddy @remiwarren cooking up a storm in Deer Camp a few years back. Any guesses on what he is cooking?

07.01.2022 Walk the path less travelled.

06.01.2022 Our Guide Drew (@madifyadont) launching some arrows over the weekend - getting that Hoyt Dialled out at those longer distances

06.01.2022 What better way to start a Friday than a hot cup of @blackboardcoffee ??

06.01.2022 Endless search for something that does not want to be found. @mavenbuilt

05.01.2022 Catch ya’s later! These mountains are a callin’ @lowaaunz

05.01.2022 Completing the process. Lovell with 2 of our hunting for beginner guests putting in the work on a beautiful fallow deer. Photo: @scottthomasphoto

04.01.2022 Time to hit the hills! @nicholaspearce

04.01.2022 Our guide @mitchlydo at the top of a leg burner with equally as fit @lrcee123 As much as it sucks walking from the bottom to the top... looking back on this all you want to do is be back in that moment of suck! #ThisIsHunting

04.01.2022 Wild Venison Subs off the coals with @missarahglover - if this doesn’t make you Hungry I don’t know what will.

03.01.2022 Our 2020 Season is about to kick off! Want to become an ethical and respectful Hunter? We have the course for you. Visit www.thealphahuman.net for more details

03.01.2022 At times our community can underestimate just how rare it is in today's society to know how to butcher an animal. To know where your meat came from, what it ate..., and the humane way it was harvested is a special thing. Not to mention you get some of the best meat on the planet as a result. Having these skills is something to be proud of and it's really cool that there are courses such as @the.alpha.human which provide those who desire a closer connection to their food with the skills which weren't passed down to them. The humans in the photos are @eamon.waddington & @missarahglover . . . #ExploreFurther #HuntLonger #HuntersElement

03.01.2022 Just another one of the beautiful spots you find yourself sitting and admiring in the wild! @lowaaunz

02.01.2022 Portable Smoked Venison? Hell yes. Stuck this piece of Red Deer Backstrap in the @traegergrillsoz for about 45’mins @ 250F... paired with some @wildfire.au seasoning and a few beers. Thank to @azventures_australia for letting us tap into his power haha

01.01.2022 Respect the process.

01.01.2022 Sometimes the simple meals are the best. @unyoked.co

01.01.2022 A afternoon spent collecting wood followed by a few cold ones. This time of year we would usually be down South chasing around Sambar Deer... but with lockdowns there is a fair chance we won’t be doing that until next year now. Sorry to all our friends down in Vic who haven’t been able to climb mountains during this time. But just think of the giants that will keep growing over this time

01.01.2022 Had the pleasure of guiding Nick & Sam from @norfolkwild over the weekend. The boys put down the fly rods and laced up the boots for some epic adventure in the Mountains. Both guys had experience hunting small game, but were looking to get their first ever Deer. Video of their experience dropping tonight! Does this sound like something you would be interested in? Head to our website to enquire! #FreeRangeHunting #WildGame

01.01.2022 Sam & Nick learning to de-bone Venison in the field. A great way to pack meat out from difficult areas as it cuts down on weight and space in your pack. @civilware
