25.01.2022 Barry and Lorraine had the pleasure this week of attending a Community Breakfast with State Cabinet Ministers held at the Gosnells Golf Course. Covid 19 was the major topic. It was nice to have the opportunity to meet Premier Hon Mark McGowan and his Ministers and to catch up with many local identities, including Bob Uttenbrook. 24.01.2022 The weather forecast is for fine weather on the weekend, so if you are looking for something to do, head out to the lovely Romancing the Stone Garden in Maida Vale on Saturday or Sunday. There will be Devonshire teas, a sausage sizzle, musical entertainment and an art exhibition. The garden is looking wonderful, and well worth a walk around. Tom will be hosting a tour of the garden each day at 11am, where he will talk about the 20 years of landscaping to make the garden what it is today!

21.01.2022 Another highly successful Fete concluded in Amanda's Garden last weekend. Our grateful thanks to our wonderful band of volunteers who make it happen together with great media and community support. It was especially pleasing to see so many people taking time out to smell the roses and relax in the peaceful surrounds.

The adult is recovering in hospital and we would like to wish them all the best for their recovery. 18.01.2022 This afternoon the Department of Health advised that an adult is currently in hospital recovering from the B strain of meningococcal disease. We would like to wish them all the best for their recovery. This is the 9th case of meningococcal disease this year, and although numbers are low we are in the peak "season" and must remain vigilant. ... Meningococcal bacteria are not easily spread from person-to-person. The bacterium is present in droplets discharged from the nose and throat when coughing or sneezing. 11.01.2022 We were delighted to note that the Rotary Club Of Gosnells recently recognised the important contribution Val McPherson makes to the local community by awarding her the Rosie Devlin trophy for 2020. Val is a keen volunteer each week in Amanda's Garden, and Val and Barry have generously assisted the fundraising efforts of both organisations for the past 10 years. They have indeed been Mighty Helpful!

08.01.2022 Last week the students at Santa Maria College celebrated Health Week with a whole school approach in promoting different health topics. One group focussed on meningococcal disease and hygiene. We provided them with water bottles, brochures and posters for their stall. 04.01.2022 Vaccinations are available for all strains of meningococcal disease in Australia. There are two different vaccinations - one covers the ACWY strains, and another for the B strain. The vaccination for ACWY has been added to the National Immunisation Program for babies at 12 months, and the WA Government also provides the vaccination to Year 10 students free of charge. Anyone else maybe be vaccinated by their GP. Vaccinations for the B strain are available, at a cost, through y...our GP. Out of pockets expenses may be claimed through some private health insurers - please check with your own fund as they all differ. 02.01.2022 We were delighted to finally meet Emma Marsh the 2019 recipient of the Amanda Young Environmental Science Leadership Award which is Presented to the Murdoch University graduating student who during her studies has shown the most potential to make a positive impact on the environment. Covid 19 caused the cancellation of the Award Ceremony this year at Murdoch. Emma and her mother kindly attended Amanda's Garden Fete at the weekend.
