23.01.2022 Yesterday we made some beautiful organic hand and body lotion for our staff to use at the end of their shifts. This will help nourish their skin that becomes dry from the use of sanitisers and constant washing. This is just a small way our Lifestyle Team and residents can show their appreciation to our staff for their efforts in keeping everyone safe, everyday. We've used essential oils which are of the finest grade and have wellness and emollient benefits.

23.01.2022 We made pizzas for everyone today in our pizza oven...YUM! Pat enjoyed some sunshine and fresh air as she rolled the pizza dough out in the courtyard. Paul became a pizza maker extraordanaire and says that it's going on his resume, he may also add taste tester and quality controller!

15.01.2022 Every year since McKenzie’s first home opened in 2000, Mary-Ann McKenzie along with family members and friends help decorate most of our McKenzie Christmas trees. This years festive season looks a little different around our homes. Due to travel restrictions, Mary-Ann and daughter, Casey could only continue on the tradition for our 6 Victorian homes. Our Queensland and New South Wales homes would not miss out completely though. They were given the ‘secret manual’ on how to de...corate their trees the McKenzie way, which as you can see from the photos below, is pretty amazing. Mary-Ann says "Christmas time is my favourite time of the year, and I really enjoy being able to spread the Christmas cheer in our homes". We hope to see the ‘McKenzie Elves’ back in our homes next year, continuing on this special family tradition.

10.01.2022 We had a little bit of fun with Jo’s new green screen today sending our residents on wild adventures! Who wouldn’t want a head massage from a baby tiger after being in Paris? A rain forest stroll is lovely and to be brave enough to hold hands with a baby bear.

09.01.2022 Today is R U OK?Day a day that aims to inspire everyday conversations about mental health. A day when we are reminded to check-in with our friends, family, colleagues, and even ourselves. This year is one that has presented everybody with extraordinary circumstances. Restrictions and lockdowns across the country, caused by the coronavirus pandemic, has thrown up challenges that many Australians are struggling to cope with. Isolation, empty workplaces, home confinement and h...ealth fears for our families and self has caused mental health issues to soar to new levels. Staying connected to one another has never been more important. In many instances, we may not be able to meet in person but we still have phones to stay in touch. So, if you know someone who might be struggling - a friend, family or workmate - please, reach out and ask: R U OK? See more
