25.01.2022 One of the main focuses of a deadlift should be a posterior weight shift (hip goes back rather than down action). To help groove this and minimize a squat looking deadlift, try setting up with a band attached behind you in the power rack. As seen in the video, by thinking about pushing the hips back into the band, you will feel tension on the hamstrings light up. #hamstrong

25.01.2022 End of football season and this young man hasn’t stopped! #hamstrong More importantly a big congrats to my guy Will for taking out the Coaches Award in his last season of high school football

23.01.2022 @out_of.tune kick starting her recovery post training with the new @ntrecovery compression therapy. If you are interesting in trying a session DM or book in online now: www.theathletemovement.com.au @ntrecovery @normatec_anz @hypericeaus

20.01.2022 In need of heavier dumbbells for your home training? Try using a super band instead! Band resistance allows you to bridge the gap from lighter to heavier loads, saves you the hassle of owning large dumbbell sets (which are difficult to purchase in this time) and best of all improve your strength development!

20.01.2022 Have you ever thought about your foot and ankle function? Deficiencies in the foot/ ankle can lead to compensation patterns in the knees, hips, core and even lower back. Proper foot/ankle function is crucial for movement skills such as running, skipping, decelerating, cutting and jumping/landing. For example take a basketballer landing from a jump - if their ankles collapse on impact, this results in more load on the knees, which generally follows suit and also collap...ses inwards (especially with more fatigue and intensity). In the video above we are working on creating optimal foot/ankle position for subsequent loading. #buildfromthegroundup See more

16.01.2022 Struggling to maintain or understand good posture for your side planks when training by yourself? Try setting up against a wall to help avoid rotating your torso or bringing your top shoulder to the floor When you lose contact, you know your torso has started to rotate Check your technique now or tag someone to help keep them accountable!

15.01.2022 One week prior to clocking a PB (2:54) in the #adelaidemarathon @woodsy__75 also pumped out a PB in the gym with 7 easy chin-ups

13.01.2022 Work Experience in Cert III Fitness Well done to my two awesome work experience coaches @maddy.freer and @laurenhofffmann who just completed 30 hours of #workexperience in the field. In our sessions Mads and Loz learnt correct technique for movement skills (squat, hinge, push, pull, bracing), conditioning programming, and recovery methods using the @hypericeaus #recoveryboots. ... A great pleasure to coach these young athletes and now be able to help mentor them for their Cert III hours. All the best girls!

12.01.2022 Shout out to my client Olivia for prioritizing her strength and conditioning during this time away from team soccer trainings. After several hamstring injuries and niggles she had the goal to return to training and be confident in her bodies ability to perform. In her home exercise plan we addressed several key controllable hamstring injury risk factors such as; player load warm up preparations... lumbo-pelvic hip stability motor patterning/ hamstring strength Get ready for return to sport by taking care of your body now and training like an athlete with purpose See more

07.01.2022 Big ups (literally) to my athlete @i_am_moogus who has increased his vertical jump 3 inches over the last 9 weeks!

02.01.2022 Struggling to maintain alignment and actually feel your muscles working in a single leg deadlift? - You’re not alone! Single leg deadlifts are a popular exercise in court/field based warmups and unfortunately more often than not are actually performed incorrectly. - Perform a 3-5 reps of this drill in your next warmup to help improve joint alignment and muscle recruitment to really get them working!... Tag or share with a mate that struggles with their single leg deadlifts See more

01.01.2022 What a great day supporting these legends on race day for the #adelaidemarathon @out_of.tune @katie.wood.runs and @woodsy__75 have been absolute machines with their training this year both in the gym and on the track. For all 3 to come out and hit massive pb’s and milestones was an honour to be a part of. Words can’t explain the amount of respect I have for their passion, commitment and grit. Also a massive shout out to their awesome run coach @jenelle_kay you have managed them to perfection and I had a blast being on the side lines with you and @chloeblacket. The positive vibes and energy you girls have for running was contagious!

01.01.2022 One of the greatest rewards coaching offers you is the relationships you get to build with your athletes. - A highlight of my week was reuniting and coaching a past athlete of mine, @lachyhaufe - Lachy and I first met 5 years ago when he was a junior state b-ball representative and I was a lot less experienced in coaching.... - After two major surgeries, today Lachy joined the movement looking for help with his return to sport training. I could not be happier to work with such a respectful, energetic, genuine and hard working person on their journey (again!). - My way of saying thank you and welcome back Lachy - max effort assault bike intervals, beast mode See more

01.01.2022 What an honour it is to be able to coach an entire #family of athletes! For over 2 years Team Gordon have been shifting iron, sweating it out and starting off their day with a win .. all before they head to work/ study. No better opportunity to get a team photo whilst they can’t run away ... Also a big shoutout to Juliet and Elise training hard overseas/interstate #strongfamily
