24.01.2022 Physio, chiro, osteo, massage, yoga what else? These therapies are all great things, don’t get me wrong... But if you are like me then you’ve found that while these therapies have helped a bit with the symptoms, they don’t seem to be addressing the UNDERLYING cause of your pain. They aren’t giving you a long term solution. ... I spent years trying different sorts of therapies and treatments. Years trying to manage my neck, shoulder and arm pain. Years living in constant fear of getting a repetitive strain injury which would affect my ability to work. Eventually I found the Alexander Technique. When I started working with a teacher of the Alexander Technique I learned to identify and release key points of postural tension. I became much better at observing my own body. I started to be able to notice, with the help of expert guidance, how tight I was holding my neck and back. And once I noticed these key points of postural tension in my neck and back I was able to start letting that tension go, little by little. It wasn't like a miracle, or an overnight transformation. It was, and is, an ongoing MINDFUL practice. And over time the tension and pain has reduced and everyday tasks have gotten easier. Now, as a trained Alexander Technique teacher, it is my passion to EMPOWER others to reduce their pain and tension levels and improve their freedom of movement. Keen to find out more? Then book a FREE phone consultation with me to discuss your back/neck pain, or other pain issues, and identify whether I can help you! 13.01.2022 Hi all, wishing everybody well. I am a long time AT student who has been thinking of training for a while. So first, thank you all for your work as teachers! An...d thank you to all of the teachers here who I’ve worked with. I have thought for years about how to talk about my experience with AT and have decided to start a YouTube channel. I wanted to share my first video. It’s a short vignette about why I study AT. On that note, for anyone who is thinking of producing content online, I’ve been learning a lot about it. My product is far from perfect but I am happy to discuss doing videos like these. I do not own a camera so this video was done on my iPhone 7. Also, if you have any recommendations for me, please share. Take care! See more

01.01.2022 Did you know that achieving good posture actually requires MINDFULNESS? Good posture means being upright and poised, yet relaxed, flexible and free to move as we need to. To get to this state, we need to be able to IDENTIFY and RELEASE key points of POSTURAL TENSION. Otherwise our body stays kinked in, twisted around, and pulled down by habitual tension that we all hold, that causes poor posture and back/neck pain. ... And to be able to identify and release key points of postural tension as we go about our lives, we need to be present to our body and how we are using it, i.e. MINDFUL. MINDFULNESS is a critical skill in finding a relaxed, yet poised, upright posture. The good news is that if you work with the Alexander Technique you’ll find that learning to improve your posture helps improve your mindfulness and learning to improve your mindfulness helps improve your posture! So choose to take a mindful path to reduce back and neck pain, let go tension and anxiety, and find a relaxed, poised, upright posture.
