15.01.2022 Welcome to the first rehearsal of a new short work inspired by this year’s NAIDOC Week theme: Always Was, Always Will Be. We recognise the achievements of First Nations dancers and musicians and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures within our company and across Australia. Watch as choreographer Ella Havelka, dancers Evie Ferris and Daniel Idaszack, Orchestra Victoria musicians Monica Naselow and Tim Murray, and pianist Kylie Foster, workshop ‘Always’. St...arting in a circle, Ella first works with the group to collectively create something that resonates with the music composed by Eric Avery. I also played with themes of connection, continuity and what it means for my people to know that nothing is ever truly lost, we just have to look inside to reconnect says Ella. The finished piece, in collaboration with Orchestra Victoria, will be shared on social media later in the year. Choreography and concept: Ella Havelka Composer: Eric Avery Dancers: Evie Ferris and Daniel Idaszack Piano: Kylie Foster Violin: Monica Naselow Bassoon: Tim Murray Filmed under COVID-safe restrictions.
