24.01.2022 Another successful exercise over APPN. Two flight led by Graham and the second with me assessing a P1 and and a new members first flight, we both navigated to the target area and found the targets on the ground, with good visibility and next to no wind. Well done to all involved. #vrarescue

23.01.2022 This afternoon the members of AusCAP once again came to help our friends at AOPA to move in to their hanger, with car loads of gear and my ute used to the full we managed to move the main office, kitchen and some stores. This Saturday we will try again to do what we couldn’t last week and have that BBQ! Thanks to all the guys who helped out tonight, Ben was very grateful for what we had achieved.

23.01.2022 Another great training weekend at AusCAP Covering some of the responsibilities of the Observer A great turnout from out members particularly for a non flying rainy day. After the meeting Ted, John and I went to SOAR Aviation and had a look at their new Tecnam P2006T Light Twin!

22.01.2022 Today we had a farewell party for one of our members who is retiring to Port Macquarie, he as been a great inspiration, a dear friend and an avid supporter of AusCAP. Special thanks to Cherie for all her hard work putting all the food together and for all the members that turned up to wish Gerard well. He’s smiling face will be truly missed at our Sydney HQ. #vrarescue

19.01.2022 Most of us had a go at flying a Drone and looking at the video stream on an iPad and through a VR headset. The clarity through the video stream was excellent enameling more Observers to see what was happening in real time.

19.01.2022 Another good turnout for Saturday’s meeting, where we were supposed to help out our friends at AOPA move in to their new Hanger accommodation at Bankstown Airport, with the promise of a BBQ lunch for our efforts. Unfortunately due to uncontrollable circumstances the move was postponed! I would like to thank all the members for there commitment and readiness to help even though it was cold and raining, and to those who have volunteered to help out during the week!

18.01.2022 Thanks to James Martin and Arron McKay of James Martin Technology Who were very informative and kept a watchful eye on our provisional drone pilot’s. #vrarescue

17.01.2022 Today we had a talk from Ray Gill who’s farther was a Ferry Pilot, ferrying new aircraft from Canada to the UK across the Pond during WW2. A very interesting talk, followed by a brief documentary on the RAF Ferry Command. A big thank you to Ray and a good turnout from our members. #vrarescue

17.01.2022 We all had a great day out at the Heritage Oval with the Sydney Drone Club and some of there Drones

16.01.2022 Once again AusCAP helped AOPA to move in to their new hanger, lots of boxes of old magazines, computers, flight sims, shelving and other stuff it’s surprising what you have when you move, it’s a great venue with big parental and all coming together nicely, a good fit for us and great for General Aviation. Probably one more session next weekend to finish it off, then we’ll be hopefully up and running! Once again I would like to thank the members of AusCAP for all their support for and teamwork to day and always!

15.01.2022 Today’s exercise was a search and locate in the Appin area, giving our new member Lucas his first look as an observer, with Graham as P2 it was great for me to have my hands on the controls again. With air over the wings, David and Geoff on the the ground for us to find and the weather holding out, we found our targets in good time. John, Douglas and Gerard making up the ground crew back at Bankstown HQ, we had a successful mission! Thanks to the team and great work from all our members

14.01.2022 To day 08/08/2020 was our first official meeting at our new HQ, with a great turnout and the return of a couple of new members who joined us just before the COVID 19 shutdown, Cherie put on a great spread of sausages rolls, crackles, fairy bread and cub cakes. Thank you Cherie your culinary skills are second to none! I would also like to thank those members who helped out AOPA during the week, who are still moving there gear in to the hanger. Well done team!

13.01.2022 Today was our last day for 2020, and what a year it was, starting with the bushfires, through COVID 19, our move to our new HQ at Bankstown Airport and partnership with AOPA Australia. Also an opportunity to award David Winter with his Citation for his deployment during the bushfires earlier this year. As with every year we finish with a causal lunch at the High Flyer. However AusCAP remains on standby over this holiday period #vrarescue

11.01.2022 Bob Smith And Cherie Chatto, who worked behind the scenes to help make the presentation lunch an awesome event! Thank you guys and all the members that made the day so special. #vrarescue

06.01.2022 the weather was great with good visibility and next to no wind, it was great to get airborne again, with good lessons learned we returned to HQ for the debrief.

02.01.2022 Today AusCAP met at the new AOPA hanger Bankstown Airport, where we will be establishing our new HQ, with a large Board room, plenty of parking for aircraft, training rooms and offices and the ability to work alongside AOPA will be a great fit for us. It will be great for us to have all our gear in one place again, where we can walk in grab what we need and go! Thanks to Benjamin Morgan from AOPA for his foresight, help and enthusiasm in bringing this all together.
