Since then I have been immersing myself in the culture and preparing for when I get to go to Jamaica. I love the raw expression and the community and all the friends I have made along the way."

I believe that when you dance, you need to be authentic to be enagaing. That's why is it so scary, you need to bring your uniqueness to the stage and be willing to be seen by an audience. The dancehall community is one of the most supportive and accepting communities I have been a part of. That's what helps me move through the fear, encourages me to challenge myself and allows me to reap the rewards. I can't wait to be part of this incredible night again." I started a couple of years ago in night clubs by dancing carribean zouk and last year I took my first dance class (hip hop / afro). I'm just here because since I've discovered the dance I feel in love with it and I wanna learn more from other dancers"

I was so nervous but I never forget when I heard the music coming out of one of the rooms...I peeked through the door and fell in love with the dancehall! The amazing @Kitty Cat was teaching that class and little did I know, going to that c...ausal class would change my life forever!! 6 years on and I've grown from being a causal class student, to actually performing with the Jungle City family. Dancehall and more importantly learning from @Kitty Cat and the other amazing teachers at Jungle City Studios, has given me confidence in myself and I feel empowered. Dancehall is more than just a dance style it's a culture that celebrates individuality and uniqueness and allows you to be who you want to be. Now I'm a mummy to a 16 month year old and juggling the busyness of life, entering into the DHQ comp 2019 is a challenge that I want to set for myself! To show that I have the confidence to take part and more importantly to be a role model to my little boy and show him that it is important to set goals and challenge yourself and that no matter how scary something is.... to 'feel the fear and do it anyway!!'"
