Isaac is a delivery man, live band fan, gym member, car lover, Canberra Raiders fan, swimmer and keen traveller. He also has a disability and is seeking the right people to share his home with him. Isaac has a microboard a group of family and friends that have formed an incorporated association called Isaac’s Band of Brothers and Sisters Inc. Their role is to help build and safeguard the good life Isaac wants and to provide housemates and his paid staff mentoring, support and friendship. As a housemate you will not be expected to provide any direct support for Isaac if that’s not your thing. You can just be like ordinary housemates and keep an eye out for each other. About the House Isaac’s house is a fully furnished, 4 bedroom renovated home in a quiet street with a large entertainment deck and garden. There is plenty of off street parking and is close to bus stops and shops. The weekly rent has been reduced from $220 to $180 week including utilities to compensate for the inconvenience of having Isaac’s support staff coming and going at the house. There is an opportunity for you to negotiate doing some direct and indirect support for Isaac in exchange for further reduced rent if you would like to explore that. You can read more about our organisation at www.theband.org.au About the role We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled governance expert with a passion for the inclusion of people with disability to provide Board Secretariat functions for Isaac’s Band of Brothers and Sisters Incorporated. The Board Secretary will be responsible for the provision of high quality advice to the board specifically related to compliance and corporate governance matters. Purpose of the role The Board Secretary is required to deliver pro-active and practical governance advice and take appropriate actions in support of the functions of the Board. The Board Secretary directly supports and responds to the requirements of the Board Chair and Board Responsibilities Fulfil the accountabilities and responsibilities of this role in a manner that upholds the boards purpose and values. Develop, document and embed appropriate processes to facilitate effective functioning of the Board Keep under review all legal and regulatory developments affecting The Band’s operations and ensure the Board is properly informed of them Work with the Board Chair and Board Members to ensure compliance with all regulatory codes and acts Prepare, maintain and disseminate high quality documentation such as meeting minutes, agendas reports and other relevant information on behalf of the Board Be responsible for the induction of new Board Members and the creation of induction training materials Collaborate with other board members to recruit new members Selection Criteria 1. Demonstrated ability to provide high level advice to the board board governance 2. Demonstrated ability to work within and monitor compliance to a legislative and regulatory framework. 3. A degree or professional qualifications in business, law, accountancy or public administration. 4. 5+ years experience in a senior management role 5.
