23.01.2022 We’re missing hosting tastings! And looking forward to be able to again very soon
23.01.2022 We have some exciting news (*Sorry we’ve been so quiet on here recently - too busy in the kitchen ). As many of you know, a few months ago we started selling our baru nut butters at local farmers markets in Hobart and we've now launched, as requested , a limited edition of TBP's baru nut butters on our web store. Starting with four flavours: Calcium Power, Antioxidant Power, Iron Power and Baru Power. So if there’s something specific you feel your body would benefi...t from that’s your butter. Alternatively, if you are more excited by flavours there’s a flavour for everyone, from chocolaty goodness to crunchy original. How do you eat them? With everything toast, sandwiches, celery sticks, slices of apple, in baking, on vegetables, on porridge and of course by the spoonful! Photo thanks to the amazing @ellalucyphoto
20.01.2022 Baru is often called ’the gold of the Cerrado’ by indigenous people in Brazil both for the golden glow of the tree and its fruit and also the preciousness of the nut with its nutritional and medicinal power.
19.01.2022 How good does this baru meal (how do you make it? Blend or mortar and pestle a handful of baru nuts) look sprinkled over these muffins? Compliments of @eliza.m.freeman . These were our morning tea yesterday Thank you Eliza.

17.01.2022 Happy July 1 - some snaps from yesterday posting our final order for the 2020 financial year! The Baru Project has now completed its first financial year Thank you for all of the support for The Baru Project already We are loving introducing the incredibly nutritious and yummy baru nut to Australia and are more determined than ever to continue helping restore and preserve the Cerrado’s amazing, but sadly very threatened, ecosystem, as well as creating valuable and meaningful employment for Cerrado locals. If ever you’d like to know more about the work we’re doing with TBP please visit our website. Thanks again @ Australia Post

16.01.2022 It’s one of our favourite times of the year. Thiago and our co-op are out on the Cerrado foraging for windfall baru nuts. We are so thankful for each harvest and always leave one third of the fruit on the forest floor. Much of the remaining fruit will become food for animals and a few of the seeds will germinate to become new trees p.s. It’s spring in Brazil too
14.01.2022 Thiago, one of our 3 co-founders. 3-and-a-bit things about Thiago: 1. He’s a food forest expert and is passionate about preserving the threatened Cerrado ecosystem 2. He lives in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, that lies in the Cerrado region. 3. He looks after everything The Baru Project related in Brazil!

07.01.2022 If you'd like to learn more about the Cerrado in about two and a half minutes watch this video ! The Cerrado is the region baru comes from and is often referred to as the upside down forest...watch this to find out why. Created by WWF-Brasil
06.01.2022 Gloria Boughey, aka (Anna’s) grandma showing off her favourite nut
05.01.2022 Have you tried...baru nuts yet? They’re definitely our favourite nut they’re super delicious, super healthy and super good for our planet - people, flora and fauna
03.01.2022 Flora, fauna, and people - these are the 3 things that motivate everything we do here at The Baru Project so we commissioned the very amazing artist @channarongsds to bring them to life. Swipe to see all three illustrations The baru tree, representing the whole Cerrado biome (you’ve probably already seen the tree as it’s the stamp on our packaging with the gold dots we placed over it to represent baru) A toucan (there’s no toucan emoji! Yet...) ‘to represent the C...errado’s 2,373 animals, approximately one-fifth of which are endemic’ (CEPF) Pedrinho, our co-op leader. . . . Baru is an incredibly nutritious food, it is a key plant needed in preserving and restoring the Cerrado biome, and (something very close to our hearts) it has the potential to have a very positive impact on the lives of many underprivileged local rural workers in the Cerrado. @ Hobart, Tasmania
02.01.2022 Thiago holding windfall baru fruit - inside each fruit there will be one baru nut
