22.01.2022 A young local girl Annie is seeking your recipes in order to create a Lilydale recipe book to raise funds for Melanoma research. Annie is doing this as part of a school assignment. You can either write your recipe down & bring it to the Bean Barrow where Annie will collect them or you can email her as per the notice attached to this post. So come on everyone, get out those tried & true, time loved recipes & have them immortalised in print.

18.01.2022 As many people would be aware, we are not permitted to have Dogs in our café. This is a local government ruling & beyond our control. We have had ongoing requests by visitors to our café to allow them to have their Dogs on our grassed area & we would like to offer a public advice as to why we do not allow this.... We had previously allowed people to have their Dogs on the grassed area of our café but were left extremely disappointed & disillusioned at the disrespect shown to us & our premises on several occasions. To give you some examples; We have had piles of Dog faeces left behind, Dogs allowed to sit on flower beds, break plants, bark & growl at us & other customers, roam around the premises unrestrained(which is against the law) & unfortunately the list goes on, but we will not bore you with it now. We have not previously put up any posts of this nature however, it is has become the case that on far too regular a basis we have received nasty, hateful comments during the course of our days work, from people who have been advised of the above reasons we don't allow animals on our grassed area. Although we understand that many people like to take their Dogs with them when they are out & about it is very important that everyone understands that it is a privilege, not a right, for your animal to be allowed entrance to any venue & always at the owners discretion. The only exception being guide & assistance Dogs. This is the law, not our opinion. We know that many people are very responsible pet owners & have lovely well behaved animals, but unfortunately our rulings have to cover everyone. As we advised one unhappy fellow today, unfortunately others previous bad behaviour is the cause of the rules we have felt compelled to put in place. We hope that this advice will be taken in the nature intended & remove any uncertainty around our decision. Lyn & Mike

09.01.2022 Fellow Bean Barrowians, We have been working hard to improve our dining experience with adding a permanent roof and landscaping. We were hoping to open on Friday the 19th June, however we won’t be ready by then. We will reopen on Sunday the 21st June. We apologise for any inconvenience, unfortunately some things are out of our control. We look forward to seeing you then.

Your choice of either 1/4 or 1/2 chicken( coated in our special rub) with a crispy whole baked potato, steamed veggies & our housemade bbq sauce. When you come to the Bean Barrow with children in your care it is your responsibility to ensure they adhere to appropriate behaviour both Covid restriction related & otherwise. We have had many instances where children have been allowed to; play with all the spoons provided for diners making them unusable, pick flowers, pull plants out, scream, yell & run around disturbing other patrons. Our café is not a park. If childre...n in your care are unable to sit quietly whilst you & they eat or drink may we suggest a takeaway & a trip to the park might be a better option.
