17.01.2022 Name: Stuart Jenkinson Profession: Community/Disability Services Role in the Club: Member/Inclusion Champion... What is your "why" for being a member of BRC?: I was at a point in my life where I wanted to get involved with and give back to the community. I had benefited from Rotary support many years ago and met my now wife at a Rotary organised event. When I came across BRC, the Club Values and Ethos resonated with me. I went along to a few meetings and as I got to know some of the members I felt very comfortable and knew that BRC would be a good fit for me.

08.01.2022 Following recent attention to the Black Lives Matter movement, many people are reflecting on their own role in the path to Reconciliation right here on Whadjuk Noongar land. Beaufort Rotary Club are offering an extended workshop to the local community, to create an opportunity for us all to come together and explore ideas and enrich our understanding of this complex issue. This workshop is open to all members of the community so please join us! Danny and Tim use an engaging,... interactive, and conversational approach. Theyll explore, together what does real reconciliation look like, and why does it matter? . They will guide us through an overview of the experience and impact of dispossession on Aboriginal people, perspectives on current issues, and ways for thinking about how Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people and groups can work together. In order to make the event as accessible as possible, "Pay As You Feel" ticket prices are available so you can attend within your means. If you wish to come but cannot pay for a ticket, please contact us directly so we can arrange a ticket for you - no questions asked. Beaufort Rotary Club aims to provide an inclusive and supportive environment, please contact us if you have any questions about accessibility. This community event will be held on Whadjuk country. We acknowledge the Whadjuk Noongar people as the traditional custodians of the land, and recognise the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We extend our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders both past and present.
