Did you know that studies have shown that the toxins released by candles are as dangerous as second-hand smoke. ... Many candles contain: paraffin (a petroleum waste product) benzene (has been linked to leukaemia) Toluene (disrupts the nervous system) Fragrance or parfum (yes, even your ‘natural’ soy, beeswax or plant based candles) ‘Fragrance’ is an umbrella term used for whatever secret toxic ingredients manufacturers want to add. Not just one or two, I’m talking 10’s or 100’s. It is put in a wide range of products, some you’re probably not even aware of. detergents, soaps, cleaners, nappies, candles, medications, cosmetics, sunscreen and SO much more. These ingredients have been linked to: allergies hormone disruptions asthma neurotoxicity carcinogenicity skin irritations & sensitivity Just to name a few. Some fragrances are added to give a pleasant aroma, others are used to mask the harsh chemical smells of other ingredients, so even an ‘unscented’ product contains fragrance to create that non-scent. 07.01.2022 Natural Deodorant FAQ’s If you’re pondering about making the switch, we’ve answered some FAQ’s to help you decide if this change is right for you. Why use a natural deodorant?... Did you know that conventional ‘anti-perspirant’ deodorants are packed full of harmful chemicals and additives, like aluminium, which actually clogs our sweat glands and stop us from sweating. At the same time, it is absorbed into your skin disrupting our hormone balance and a whole bunch of other nasty stuff. A big NO NO! How does natural deodorant work? Sweating is a natural process that needs to occur in order to release toxins and allows your body to cool down when it’s hot. Natural deodorants allow this necessary process and work to give your skin a breathable solution by controlling odour instead. Will I have more odour or sweat? At first, yes! Your body is used to not sweating, blocking bacteria and toxins from excreting. Once these toxins are released and our bodies get used to sweating again it will naturally balance out and produce a manageable and healthy amount of sweat. It is normal to experience some not-so-pleasant detox effects after making the switch but these are just temporary adjustments that won’t last long and some people hardly notice it at all. If you’re wanting to quicken the detox period, we suggest trying an ‘armpit detox’. What’s an armpit detox? Like a face mask but for your under-arms.
