24.01.2022 Tick tick tick... getting the show together again. In the meantime, consider this: a 12 bar blues, with shuffle https://youtu.be/tPP4jrarsYU

16.01.2022 I've spent 11 hours setting up a guide track for the THIRD of our isolation jam recordings. (The first one is complete. Deleted from YouTube because one of the players wasn’t happy with my mixing. The second one is in production - few more solos to come.) Now the third. 11 hours and it’s still not ready to send off for drums. ... I am reflecting on the fact that the Beatles recorded their first two songs in 12 hours. (Two whole songs)

08.01.2022 We believe Hardys Bay Club is too good to lose, but how best to save it?

05.01.2022 RIP Kip, you will be so sadly missed at all the jams, thanks so much for your music and friendship.

04.01.2022 Two episodes now out there in the wild. Only about 20 mins in length. Quirky. About how some musicians are doing extraordinary (depending on perspective) things during the pandemic. All the listening links are on: www.andtheguru.com

04.01.2022 You know the musicians who are on this recording. See if you can pick them..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdM3AkhzFfw

04.01.2022 Someone you know is involved in this. Maybe many people you know. In coming weeks there will be many more. Over weeks of Covid-19 lockdown, somewhere between 60 and 80 musicians from different parts of the world ... in their bedrooms and living rooms ... armed only with alcohol and personal recorders ... laid down 24-36 bars of a common old country-blues song. They had no idea what others were doing, and they had no idea of what the final track was going to end up like. All t...hey had to work to was a rough (very) demo of the producer with his rhythm guitar, outlining the structure of the song. No master arrangement, no access to recording studios, and no hint as to what other players might be doing. The result will surprise you! I've bundled it all up into a podcast. You can listen to their contribution on the original hosting site. https://andtheguru.podbean.com/e/covid-and-the-guru-part-1/ Or you can listen to it on iTunes Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com//podc/and-the-guru/id1522882256 Or you can listen on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/68xuGnvGaJJe7oj4U7AmxK As you listen to it, keep in mind that this was a project launched in musical desperation. Locked-down musicians with nothing much to occupy their non-drinking time. Therefore it comes with a suitably desperate A COMPETITION attached to it. (Check it out: http://www.andtheguru.com ) Is this a professionally run competition? Far from it. Is it a legit lottery-type competition? Far from it. Is there a law against giving away free alcohol to those most in need of it other musicians? Very likely. So if any official comes knocking on my door, demanding to know what authority I have to conduct a competition, I will say it's only satire. BUT, if you're not an official, the details of this competition are here on my website: http://www.andtheguru.com There will be several of these give-aways. Out of my own cellar.
