09.01.2022 Australian businesses owe $12.3 billion to the taxman, with activity statement debt rising to $12.3 billion in 2017-18, up 8.4% on the prior year, new figures released by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) show. There are so many reasons small businesses find themselves in this situation. All too often they are too busy working in their business and not on it and they:... - stick their head in the sand when it comes to their numbers - if they do look at their numbers they dont understand them and they miss the signs signalling things are getting tight - the dont know what level of sales they need to "breakeven" or make a "desired level of profit" - they dont have a budget to work towards and to help them monitor their numbers - they are not charging enough.
